What third party software are you running? That error dialog looks weird. Are you running WindowBlinds?

What version of Windows?

Also, are you running the latest version of Nexus?

I'm using WindowBlinds 11, Windows 10 22H2, Yahoo Widgets and ObjectBar.

Try excluding Nexus in WindowBlinds, at least for the time being. Pretty sure WB is causing that issue.

Once you are able to access Preferences, click the version number in the top right corner. What is the FULL version number of nexus.exe ?

Did you restart WindowBlinds after excluding Nexus? Also, what happens if you run Nexus without running WindowBlinds?

Doubt Windhawk has anything to do with it.

I uninstalled windowblinds and it still does it. By the way, clock and other animated icons still work but I can't interact with dock at all

Ok, in that case first let's make sure you are indeed running the latest version and that everything has been installed correctly: re-download Nexus from the Winstep web site and install it ON TOP of your current installation.

If you have no access to the right click context menus OR Preferences you might have to kill Nexus via the Windows Task Manager before running setup.

See if that solves anything.

When did you install Nexus, by the way?

Ah, I was under the impression that you could not even open the right click context menus.

Anyway, you do know that windows in Windows do not normally open like that, right? If I had to guess, whatever is causing that genie opening effect is the culprit.

Now it goes unresponsive like last time but doesn't show an error. I was able to get to preferences, it says the version is 25.7

What program is responsible for the genie animation?

Anyway, you seem to have too much stuff installed that interferes with 3rd party applications. For instance, despite everything it does, unlike WB and that genie thing, Nexus is pretty vanilla and does not interfere in any way, shape or form with the OS or other applications.

When you start injecting DLLs or hooking into other people's processes and doing some very unusual things, stuff is bound to break sooner or later.

It was WindowFX. I uninstalled WindowFX and WindowBlinds, only other stardock thing I have is IconPackager. I don't have anything else that messes with the system, aside from Windhawk for Spotify.

So WindowFx was causing the issue?

Ok, in that case try re-installing WindowBlinds, if you want. I know it used to work fine with Winstep software (I actually have a 'Standard User Interface' option in the About tab of the UI, so Preferences and other dialog windows could be skinned by WB)

As for WinFX, just please confirm it was indeed the issue and that Nexus is now working fine and I'll try to bring it up with Stardock's Neil.
