I have my XP configuration setup so that icons for Internet Explorer, MyComputer, MyNetworkPlaces, Recycler and MyDocuments do not appear on the desktop. Nor do they appear on the desktop when WorkShelf is running (even if I allow desktop icons to be shown).

However, they DO appear on the Desktop Shelf of WorkShelf.

Is there any way I can prevent them from showing there?

Funny, I never did notice it before, but what you say is true. Looks like those special items are only filtered out by Explorer when rendering the icons to the desktop - the Desktop enumeration API used by Xtreme, on the other hand, returns all objects, regardless of user settings.

So, the answer for now is, no, currently there is no way to hide them. Guess I will have to implement my own 'filter' routine when displaying the contents of the desktop shelf.
