I have just upgraded my Actual Windows Manager software (Actualtools.com) to the just released version 5.4, and it is totally incompatable with Winstep Extreme and Nexus.

When run the Extreme Shelf and all docks become blank white areas on the screen. I have informed Actual tools of the problem and they say they cannot fix it until the next version i.e 5.5. So anybody running this software I advise you to stick with version 5.3 which happily coexists with Extreme etc.

Best Regards

Vista SP2 32 bit

I have the Aero feature enabled, but disabling this makes no difference.

Jorge, a copy of details I have sent to Actualtools.com

"As an update to the problem of AWM being incompatible with Winstep Extreme and Nexus dock from Winstep.net.

I have found that if I have Winstep Extreme running, then AWM is started, all of the docks and the shelf become unresponsive
blank white areas on the screen.

At first I had no option but to use the Winstep Extreme tray icon to exit the program, exiting AWM did not restore the shelf and docks.
I could then run one or the other of the two programs but not both together.

I have now found that if I use the tray icon to access the preferences for Winstep Extreme and disable then renable the docks and shelf,
they now function correctly and AWM leaves them alone. So it seems the problem occurs when Actual Windows Manager initially starts up."

[Dusting off the old topic]

gjbth, I took your advice back when and skipped version 5.4.
Recently version 6 has been released (a paid upgrade).

Have you upgraded yet and if so how does it work with the current
Xtreme versions?
In general, is there anything added worth paying for?

Thanks,
Marc

Marc, I believe this problem is related to the one in which Logitech Setpoint would blank Winstep docks, menus, etc... under 64 bit systems. If so, the problem has been solved on Winstep's side.

Marc, Jorge is correct, there are no compatability problems between Extreme and AWM V6, they co-exist just fine on my system .

Although I did not have setpoint installed and I am running a 32 bit system, whatever, the problem has been rectified. :D

I Find version 6 excellent, install the trial copy and try it out.

Okay, thanks guys. I'll give the new version a whirl and check it out.
