Hi Folks,

I've noticed an interesting phenom...When running as a standard user (not under my admin account) I get a "ghost dock".

It shows whenever I have the mouse effect set to "magnify" or "flat magnify"

OR when I move the dock around on the desktop.

Since it doesn't appear in my admin account I don't think it's hardware. The dock *was* created (indeed the entire set - docs, meues, etc.) under my admin account, the seetings saved, and then the settings reloaded into the non-admin account. The ghosts showed up then.

I have rebooted the machine. Still there.

The only thing I have not yet done is give this account admin privs.

Whatchu think? Am I haunted?

John

PS - Jorge, having the screen cap available is amazingly handy. Create a hotspot, link to a hotkey and wham you can now see what I see

Amazing, I had never seen that. Is the "ghost" dock actually clickable?

Now, who we're gonna call? Ghostbusters! :P

Actually, it was clickable.

It also appears that it only shows up when I log off or switch from the admin account and then log into the standard account.

When I boot the machine and go straight into my standard account (either directly or through the login screen) I remain ghost free.

Even if I log out (without a reboot) and go into the other account this pops up.

Obviously something in windows isn't clearing when I log in/out. It takes a reboot.

I would think that what you have there is two instances of the dock running then, one for the admin account, and another for the standard user account. Why one appears in 'ghost mode' is anybody's guess, though.

You can test this out by opening Task Manager and telling it to show processes for all users.

I had a similar problem when I had Nexus Dock installed and then upgraded to Ultimate. I then had 2 instances of the dock 1 regular and one ultimate. Just exit both docks unchecking "Run Nexus at Windows Startup" on both instances and then running the instance you want. In my case Nexus Ultimate for which I then needed to exit it, this time checking the box to start at windows startup.

At least that's what was happening to me when I was getting the "ghost dock"

As my wife has a seperate account on my computer it was also happening to her, same fix. No problems since then with it.
