like the command for 'My Computer'.
It would be nice to be able to also have shortcuts for Drive D:, F:, etc.etc.
I have 8 hard drives in my dual-quad core computer. It would be soooo much faster to be able to access each drive from a shelf or dock, rather than 'My Computer, then the drive - i.e. go straight to Drive K: for example.

Am not sure if that would be an easy implementation, since it would need the alphabet as a build-in option also.

But sure would be nice to have.

The only thing I have for now is in one of my docks is the 'folder', which opens up with the sub-menu, except that it becomes endless long - well too long for any monitor [I have it in one of my vertical docks], since I have taken up every other space already - lol
........................

well - I just tried something out and it actually serves precisely this purpose: selected new item - url - pointing to the drive - changed icon -
voila - now I got exactly what I needed.
Maybe it's just me that was a bit slow with figuring this out.

You could just as well have dragged the drives from 'My Computer' into a dock, would have been easier...

If clicking on a shortcut to a drive in your dock opened it as a 'menu', then that's because you had the 'Always open folders as menus' setting enabled. In that case, you could just disable that setting - the same thing can be accomplished by clicking a folder shortcut in the dock and holding for roughly one second before letting go of the mouse button.

You could also have added a 'Drives' tab type to the Shelf - this would have created a tab in the Shelf displaying the contents of 'My Computer'.

The Shelf supports different tab types: 'regular' tabs which can be populated with shortcuts just like a dock, special tabs that can display the contents of virtual Shell folders like My Computer, Control Panel, Recent Documents, etc..., tabs that display the contents of a chosen folder in your hard drive, etc...
