Open WorkShelf Preferences -> General tab -> More Options -> In the behavior section, change 'Show balloon information tooltips on mouse over after a short delay?' to something else other than 'Always'.

Hey, Jorge... actually, that's something I've been meaning to ask.
Since the balloons are meant to provide some extra information, would it be possible to extend the customisation to allow per-dock or per-shelf or even per-tab mode?
For example: I've got one tab on the shelf which shows "My computer" drives. There, I'd like to have the balloons, because they show free space and total size. Then, I also have another tab, which has plain shortcuts. There, I don't want any balloons, because it's evident what the shortcuts are, and I don't need any balloon telling me that "something.exe" was created in 2009 by Someone and is so many bytes. And then I've got another shelf with shortcuts to my other computers on the local network, and there I most definitely don't want any balloons, because a. the balloon will only show the same name as the shortcut and b. if that computer happens to be sleeping or switched off, it will take around 10 seconds until it finally shows that balloon (due to net timeout).
What do you think?
