I read somewhere on here where the weather won't be showing anymore :( I thought something was wrong with it but I guess it's down now. I hope you guys plan on updating it with something else, if weather.com doesn't allow it anymore, I am sure there are other weather sites you can use? Let me know if there is another way around this for time being. It's one of my favorite things about the nexus. Thanks.

Try http://www.htchome.org/en/features/ It has options for weather, photos & clock on your desktop. I only use the weather module but it is very cool. You can select from different sizes & styles. Within the module it will animate w/sound when the weather changes. I mean real animations like rain, fog, cloudy, clear, etc. And you can adjust how often you want it to update. The sound & animation last about 15 seconds & then returns to static current conditions. You will need mp4 codecs for this to work. MP Classic or WMP 11 will both work fine as long as the proper codecs are installed. Again, very cool. :P

Yep, we're on it. Weather.com sent all their feed subscribers an email stating that the feed would be shutdown at midnight October 31. As such, code was added to use alternative feeds as a backup (two extra weather feeds, actually, Google and MSN, so something like this won't happen again).

October 31st came and went and the Weather.com feed remained active (it was still working yesterday), but I guess today they did make true on their statement.

Expect a new 'emergency' release sometime this week. Until then you can use a location near you (usually an airport) with a METAR code - it won't give you a weather forecast, but it will at least give you current weather conditions.

Hi Jorge. Sorry to mention a non Winstep program. If you're not aware of it you should check it out & maybe do something like it in a future release. Good modules can sometimes be frustrating. Most theme screenshots don't show included modules. And some take up too much screen space. Resizing the fonts makes them just about unreadable. Especially net & cpu meters. But I'm happy w/the KTEK 4D meters so it's all good. Thanks for all your hard work. It shows.

Since this post is now being read by a lot of people (for obvious reasons) I would like to point out that a private beta that solves this problem is currently available for registered Winstep users. Official version will be released soon.

More information on how to get this private beta and why this happened can be found HERE.

Ed, there's nothing wrong with the Weather module (not to mention that it now falls back to the Google feed if the MSN feed is down). Have you tried other locations already?

Yes I tried every other location near here, nothing worked. It was working fine and then just quit.

Probably your firewall blocking the application.

Check the tooltip of the clock module, what does it say?

Also, if you go to the Weather module settings panel and click on the 'Check Weather' button, you will get a dialog saying something... What does it say?

Finally, what happens if you go to the Advanced tab and click on the 'Check for Updates' button?

Ok I figured it out, kind of. It said location not found or something so I went through every location in the state and found one that worked. The only problem it is a good 2 hours from here and the weather is generally a bit colder than it is here but I guess that's better than nothing. It seems I can no longer get a weather forecast for my area, it was working only a week ago.

:(

That's rather strange.

Can you please select your location again in the Weather module settings panel (the one that wasn't working) then take a screenshot of the panel and post it here?

Also, if you click the Advanced button in the same weather settings panel, are all the boxes filled?

Ok, thanks, that helped me figure it out.

Problem is that the MSN weather feed is not returning anything for that Weather.com code (USWA0131) and the Google feed chokes on 'Elma, United States'. I managed to solve this by passing 'Elma, WA' to the Google feed instead, and that works.

So, I changed the code so that locations in the US pass 'City, State' instead of 'City, Country' to the Google feed in the future.

This fix will only become available on the next update, so what you can try for now is to type 'WA' in the 'Country:' box of the Weather settings panel that currently says 'United States'. If, after doing that, you click on the Get Weather button, you should get the current conditions and a 4 day forecast from the Google feed.
