I thought I'd post the setup I've been running for probably three months now using Winstep Nexus.

I've just realised that I made a mistake and that there's 5 docks and not 4. I use one purely for the system tray that is set to 16px icons and auto-hides. Notification tooltips still like to appear bottom right where the taskbar systray used to be rather than top left of the right monitor where the systray dock is. A shame but I'm not sure there's much I can do.
I had a think about how I worked before I started putting this together. I've used Litestep and other alt shells before as well as docks but this one was the first time I'd used multiple docks for different purposes. I was also in the situation where I used Macs and work and Windows/Linux at home so I've ended up over the years with a way of working that er... works, with different OS's.
The running tasks dock set on the left edge of the right screen seems to be the ideal place for me as my mouse generally falls on the right hand side of the left screen - if that makes sense

so there's very little mouse movement needed to access them. I also used Switcher (an expose clone for windows) for a while as you can see in the screenshot but it feels more natural to just move my mouse to the tasks dock.
I'd be interested in seeing how others have their desktops laid out.
