As previously stated, a native Stacks docklet is on the to-do list, but I highly doubt it will be available on the free version of the Nexus dock: once it's implemented it should only be available under Nexus Ultimate/Winstep Xtreme.

This said, you can always use Cris'n'Soft StandaloneStack with the free version of Nexus.

do you plan on the grid? if you do i would suggest on nexus, and not the shelf(if you only did one or the other).

Why not on both, mate?

sure but if only one was to be done i would personally prefer nexus. as you know i have a folder with shortcuts of my most used programs on nexus. the grid would allow me to have a cleaner looking utility for that.

Without it I have no need to use your program, sorry.

Other functions are nice but this one is really important because I want to do few quickly shortcuts for my programs shorcuts.

In example:

In your I can only do a folder, but when I open it I need to close it again and again because it's folder :) StackDocklet is like folder with autoclose function and it's what I need.

Regards

Well, Nexus Ultimate and Winstep Xtreme *already* have sub-docks which do essentially the same thing (and they auto-close too). And you also have the Shelf (tabbed dock), which also allows you to access *any* folder in your hard drive, as well as virtual folders such as the Desktop, Control Panel, My Computer, etc..., as a tab in the Shelf.

But from what I understood you intend to stick with the free version, therefore... sorry.

No, no I'm not intend to stick with free version ;)
Can I take a look how it works in Ultimate version, some example?

Nexus Ultimate does not have a trial version (you can say that the free version of Nexus is the trial version of Nexus Ultimate), but Winstep Xtreme does have a 30 day trial, so you can download and install that (and then turn off NextSTART if you don't want to replace your Windows taskbar).

Anyway, this product comparison page HERE should illustrate the difference between products better.

You can see a sub-dock and the Shelf in the image below, for instance:

Image

Each sub-dock, in turn, can also have sub-docks, which allows you to organize your applications into categories and sub-categories...

The Shelf, however, is the best tool for this job. When collapsed, you can only see the tabs. The Shelf supports several tab types, from 'regular' tab types that act just like docks, to special tabs that show (and allow you to manipulate) the contents of actual folders in your hard drive.

Tabs in the Shelf can also display the contents of several virtual folders, as well as thumbnails of all the themes you have installed (making switching themes a one click job), running applications, system tray icons, etc...

This is all MUCH more functional than Stacks... only without some of the eye candy that Stacks provide (although you must really see some of the new sub-dock open animations in the upcoming v12.2 release). :D

It's looking not good for me :(, I want rounded square with my shortcuts and without this 'v' icon belowe the main systm icon it's possible to remove it?

Image

Btw. shortcuts in this dock are working better than in RocketDock-StackDocklet because of the same zoom and name animation :D

Sub-docks are not Stacks, so they will always appear in 'dock' format (i.e.; single line of icons). You can, if you want, set the sub-docks to appear parallel to the parent dock instead of perpendicular: open the Dock Properties dialog for that dock, go to the Behavior tab, then click the Sub-Docks button.

As for the sub-dock indicator (the 'v'), you can't remove it because it is the only thing that tells you a particular icon opens a sub-dock. What you can do, if you want, is to customize the images used, *on a theme-by-theme basis*, by providing your own 16x16 pixel replacement images.

For instance, in that screenshot you are using the Windows 7 Xtreme theme, which (assuming you are running Windows 7) is located at

C:\Users\Public\Documents\WinStep\Themes\Windows_7_Xtreme\

What you need to do is put three 16x16 bitmaps named nxsubc.png (sub-dock closed indicator), nxsubm.png (sub-dock indicator mouseover) and nxsubo.png (sub-dock open indicator) in that folder. You might as well create blank PNG images if you really, really, don't want to see an indicator.

jorge a subdock is nice if you only have a few items on it, cause you still cannot make multiple rows of items(say 7 across by 8 down). for instance my desktop shortcuts folder is 7 across and 5 down. currently you get a little icon(16x16)that you almost can't see to indicate a subdock, it just looks out of place to me. is there anything preventing you from setting it up so we can choose regular icons for the subdock launcher? or maybe if you do finally do the tabbed dock setup those tabs so they can be grids.
