Is there a straightforward way to attach a menu directly to a dock item instead of a hotspot? I would like to mix some custom menus in amongst the other items in a dock.

Thanks,
Ted Gill

Hi Ted!

No, because the menus are provided by NextSTART (which needs to be running, by the way).

Anyway, I fail to see the problem? The hotspot is just an activation method, and in NextSTART you can set an hotspot to be activated by 'Hotkey only' and then set the hotkey to 'None'. This makes sure the hotspot can only be activated via a 'hotspot' item in a dock or in the Shelf.

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for the reply! I think what's becoming clear is my incomplete understanding of how hotspots work. I've only been working with this system for about two days. (It's very cool BTW)

As I understand it what you are basically saying is that I can create a "dock item" in a dock or subdock and then place a hotspot on that actual item. Hmmm, will have to go back and look at how that would work. Is there FAQ or KB item on this -- I didn't see one on my previous perusal (or am I just unusually dense).

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers,
Ted

Hi Jorge,

It was as I feared -- PEBCAK -- I was being dense, or perhaps tired. I have found the item type that assigns a hotspot to a dock item and all is well. Thanks for your help and patience.

Cheers,
Ted

lol

You were not being dense at all... Winstep Xtreme is an extremely powerful application, and once you look past skin deep it does have a learning curve.

I could bet most users don't know what the 'hotspot item' in the dock does or how they can use it. :D
