Is there a "preferred" exit?

I can exit via Nexus, at the bottom (taskbar), Start Menu in the Nexus Dock, etc.

From reading the posts (usually get in trouble here), I'm confused.

Under Start Menu and elsewhere (Exit options), I'm showing: NextStart and Winstep Xtreme.

The confusion: are both supposed to be loaded?

Yes, MextSTART and Winstep Xtreme are supposed to be running at the same time including WorkShelf. However, for some reason if you want to only exit NextSTART, right-click the icon in the System Tray/Taskbar and click exit. I don't know if there is keyboard shortcut to exit NextSTART.

To totally exit both including WorkShelf, right-click on the Nexus icon on your dock. The Context Menu will appear. Go to Exit--> Click Exit Winstep Xtreme--> Yes.

Just so you know, they all work together even though they work independently of each other. So, shutting one of them down doesn't make sense to me unless you are doing some sort of troubleshooting or maybe trying to figure out what each one is doing.

There is a steep learning curve. I was in your shoes at one time and I'm still learning. Xtreme is very robust in its features. Have you read some of my recent posts? Some of them are in someone else's thread like this one is. It might help you a little.

To add to what Windy wrote:

Winstep Xtreme is the name of a suite of applications, just like 'Microsoft Office' is the name of a suite of office oriented applications. Winstep Xtreme is thus made of individual applications, mainly 'NextSTART' and 'WorkShelf' - given the above Office example, those would be 'WinWord' and 'Excel'.

So, when the context menu says 'Exit Winstep Xtreme', it means 'exit all running Winstep applications, i.e.; exit NextSTART and WorkShelf at the same time'.

Hope this explains things a bit better.

Hmmmmm, just thought about this. Do you have Nexus installed along with Xtreme?

Jorge, if in fact he does, won't this pose a problem since Xtreme covers everything? Maybe this is why the OP wants to close an application?

Yes, I do. The full monty: NextStart, Winstep Xtreme, WinShelf, etc.

Windy did good but that nails it.

What actually brought this up was I run CCleaner, do a warm boot, run defragger over drives, do a cold boot and off I go for the day.

I didn't want to leave a part of Winstep behind without a proper shutdown. All good now.

Future Suggestion: a date or other identifier be automatically attached to backups. Yes, I can attach such but didn't know it when I first started. A bit of agony there.
