I am trying to get my Outlook 2010 icon to bounce when I receive an email. I have the attention effect set to Bounce, but when I receive an email it doesn't do anything. In fact, I have to click the icon and open Outlook in order to see if I have an email.

Basically I want what the MAC does (or used to 10 years ago when I was a MAC user) when an email is received. I want to be able to just look at my desktop and tell if there's an email waiting.

Can anyone help this newbie?

Thanks!

currently you won't get the icon to bounce or do anything else when you have new mail in outlook 2010. the closes you will come to any behaviour in outlook is set it up to auto-notify you. i personally don't remember how to setup outlook to do it.

The attention effect will only play if:

1. If you are using the Email Checker Module to check for new messages. In this case, it's the Email Checker's icon that bounces if it detects new messages have arrived.

2. If Outlook 2010 can be configured to flash the button in the taskbar whenever new mail arrives (which I don't think it can) and then only if you are displaying the list of running applications on the dock (i.e.; the icon you use to *launch* Outlook 2010 will still NOT bounce, only the icon in the list of running applications).
