Hi folks

I don't know if this has been mentioned by others but I use NextStart for the Start Menu and Taskbar on my Windows 7 (64bit) desktop.

When I quit a game (such as Battlefield 3 or The Sims 3) and return to the desktop, the System Tray icons are often disabled and very blurry. To get the taskbar to 'reactivate' I usually go into the Preferences window of NextStart and click on the Apply button and all is restored to normal.

Is this something that might be fixed in a future update perhaps?

Thanks!

Well I have not experienced your problem, but I have noticed a different problem with the systray. I'm using a systray shelf and tray items often disappear. They are on the windows tray but not on the shelf.

For example the remove hardware icon disappeared today, and processor temp and battery level icons keep disappearing too. If I restart a particular app whose icon disappears, it comes back.

Also, occasionally icons will have the incorrect name associated with them. One icon may have the name of the icon appearing beside it. But just the name though. If I right click on the icon the correct context menu comes up that matches the icon, just it's name is wrong. This doesn't happen as often as disappearing icons though.

At the moment I'm still running XP SP3

Could it be that the systray is *behind* the taskbar (what you mention could be explained by a semi-transparent taskbar - which gets automatically blurred under 7, just like the titlebar of windows - and a z-order problem)?

Check the z-order of the systray and the NextSTART taskbar, make sure they are set to the same.

Anyway, here (Windows 7 x64) I do not experience any problems with the systray, even after running different games. Yellow's problems would be even harder to reproduce since he is running XP and a 32 bit version of Windows.

Many thanks for the reply Jorge.

Ah, I think you're right about the Z-order is affected and the system tray ends up behind the taskbar.

I've now set the SysTray to be 'Always on top of other windows' from Preferences / Taskbar / System Tray Settings so that should solve it permanently. :)

What I did as an interim measure was add a further menu item to the Start Menu of Internal Command / Enable NS Task Management which seemed to reset the order OK.
