Marc, he won't be able to read that thread since it's in the Beta Discussion Forum, which is accessible to registered users only.

It's not possible to run NeXuS without WorkShelf (so much depends on the shelf that it is not possible to have only the docks running) , although a switch will be provided in the next update to hide it.

What you can do is set the shelf to 'collapse to frame', 'start collapsed' and disable the edge bump. And if you're bothered by even the tiny bit of WorkShelf's that's still visible, set the workshelf transparency when collapsed to 100%.
