Hello,

I am having trouble trying to customize the system tray icons in Winstep Xtreme. I have successfully changed icons before in the preferences, however the battery icon, action center icon, network icon and volume icons do not appear in the list when I attempt to change them. Is there a way to make them appear in that list or do I have to modify the system files for windows to get them changed?

I am running Version 12.2 of Winstep Xtreme in Windows 7 32-bit.

Check the Tray Exclusion list and make sure Windows Explorer is not listed. If it is, remove it, then disable automatic exclusion.

While I was able to successfully change the system tray icons after I restarted my computer all of the icons that I customized for explorer, such as the battery and volume icons, are now listed as "orphan." I'm not sure why this has happened. Any ideas?

That's because when Explorer was automatically added to the exclusion list (I wonder how that happened, by the way, it means it crossed a certain threshold of different tray icons) all Explorer system tray icons were deleted from the Winstep tray icon cache to save space.

Anyway, should be a non issue, the 'orphan' icons should be automatically re-assigned as WorkShelf 'sees' the real tray icons they are associated to again and adds them to the Winstep tray icon cache.

Well they haven't switched back yet so I'm not sure whats up with it. I'll experiment later today to see if I can get it working right again.

Winstep Xtreme will need to 'see' the original systray images that were previously associated to the orphaned icons in order to automatically re-assign them again.

In other words, if you have a customized battery tray icon at half charge, your battery must go to half charge before that image is used again by the system, which in turns automatically re-assigns the associated customized icon.

Provided all the icons are being customized properly, I would not worry and would leave the orphaned icons alone. Eventually things will fall into place by themselves, or at least they should.

For some reason Explorer got readded to the exclusion list. Once I removed it from the list everything was discovered again. Thank you for the help once again.
