I would like to know how to make winstep themes.
We have been told by Jorge that we can get a free license if we make a winstep theme and he likes it.

But there is no tutorial on how to accomplish this.
And the new GUI of the program does not allow us to make new themes.

Can someone please help and give some good instructions on how to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Bob

Ouch.

Of all skinnable Windows customization programs, only WindowBlinds and Winstep applications had skinning settings in the GUI. All others are skinned by changing text configuration files, and none have skinning user guides for them - you learn by trial and error and through the experience of others.

As I already explained elsewhere, most of the skinning settings were removed from Winstep applications to lessen the clutter, since only a very, very, very small percentage of users would ever do skins for it.

The idea was to move them to a separate application, but this has been in limbo for quite some time while I've focused on other stuff (yep, my fault, I know).

So, you can either wait for that 'Winstep skin studio' application to become available (God knows when that will happen) or you can delve into the configuration files or existing themes and ask people like Xiandi, Skagon and WebGizmos for help. But it's going to be harder doing it this way, of course.

D'oh! Okay, then, quick question. How do I add the current temperature to a weather module that doesn't have the current temperature included? The forecast is nice, but I want to know how hot it is right now at a glance.

For the Desktop Weather Module? As a user you don't, not really, only the skinner can do that.

You can blame WebGizmos, I've been telling him for ages that a forecast is NOT current weather conditions.

Remember, I've skinned once or twice before. ;-) Just not recently. And I've messed with text file skinning, too. If you tell me what will add the current temperature I can get it where I want it. I guess I could eventually figure it out just by changing things in the skin file, but if you told me which attribute was for the current temperature, it'd be faster. ;-) And I'll blame WebGizmos but also thank him for taking up the skinning torch in a big way.

Okay, it took some trial and error, but I figured it out. Now Fett tells me the current temperature. :-P
