This is the original position of them.

After I turn my monitor off and turn it back on, this is what I get.

Then I will need to disable Workself and enable it again in order to fix it.
Any idea why this happens?

Version 15.9
OS: Windows 7 x64

By turning off, do you mean physically turning off your monitor, as in 'pressing the power switch'?

Ya, I mean physically turning off my monitor.

I found out 'unplug and re-plug a monitor' is actually the reason of this error. So I think it's not a big problem for normal users.

(I have a hdmi switcher so I can use multiple monitors on multiple devices. So turning off/on a monitor is effectively unplug and plug my monitor in again. At least it's what my hdmi switcher does.)

Here's my story of finding this out: (NOT IMPORTANT)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was trying to reliably reproduce the bug/error, and messing around with my multi-monitors setup, at the end, I was unable to even start workself. It won't show up although workself.exe appears in the task manager. I suspected it was either crashed or shown on my second monitor (maybe). Although I didn't have a second monitor plugged in nor using 'extend display' setting on windows. I couldn't really use workself anymore nor I could change its settings (on the UI at least). Tried to end workself.exe process and restart computer. Same thing. As far as I know I can't really change/restore settings if I can't even have access to workself.

I decided to re-install everything and also get rid of the hdmi switcher for now. Everything works as intended. Turning off my monitor won't cause issues, but unplug and plug in my monitor in again will.

For future reference, pressing CTRL+F11 will open WorkShelf Preferences (unless you changed or disabled the shortcut). You can also access Preferences by right clicking the WorkShelf system tray icon (again provided you did not turn that off).

You're right. I totally forgot about the system tray icon as I always hide it, and also the shortcut. Thanks for the information.

If you haven't already found a solution, this might help:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 6aa?auth=1

Cliffs Notes:

Run Regedit.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration

Configuration will contain multiple configurations. Find any that say, "SIMULATED" at the front. Open them, they should contain entries titled "00". Those entries should have attributes named "PrimSurfSize.cx" and "PrimSurfSize.cy". Edit those values to your resolution (in my case, 1920 and 1080).

The 00 entry should also have a second 00 entry. Go to that and find the attributes named "ActiveSize.cx" and "ActiveSize.cy" and edit those the same way you edited the other attributes.

Now things shouldn't move around every time you turn off your monitor.

TLDR:
Stupid Microsoft
