Hello again,

using Xtreme 16.6

I try to make the Taskbar transparent but the QuickLaunch and Tasklist icons also become transparent.

The System Tray icons, however, do not become transparent.

I am just trying to make the taskbar 100% transparent while leaving all icons intact...

is this possible ?

Ouch.

That's an area that needs revisiting ASAP, just had a look at it's pretty much broken at the moment. I'm afraid you will have to wait for the next release.

Thanks, at least I wasn`t trying to do something that wasn`t possible !

As a side note, is it possible to remove or hide #6 on the taskbar ?

As seen here, the button thing at the far right..

I don`t know what it is but it would be great for my OCD if I could get rid of it :)

Alas, I'm afraid not. You can get rid of pretty much everything (using NextSTART Preferences -> Taskbar -> Taskbar Settings -> Taskbar Sections) but that. :(

8) I thought I was asking the impossible, had to check though as it may have been my fault for overlooking something.

Thanks.

You're not asking for the impossible. :D

The first issue (taskbar transparency) definitely needs to be worked on, and the second, well, not that there is a huge demand for it, but I can always implement it if it's not too much work for such a simple thing.

I guess I could add a 'handle' option to the Taskbar Sections list, which you could then disable to turn off (but not move up and down like the others).

Thanks for looking into it.

While I`m here there is another unusual thing I noticed...

when a Hotspot icon has no label (blank label) the label still pops up and declares which hotspot it actually is...

eg:

I can not see the setting to disable labels (it didn`t do this in Nexus)

is this correct and label pop-ups can not be disabled in Xtreme ?

Yes. The difference is that Nexus labels pop-up immediately, while Hotspot Buttons/Quick Launch tooltips only appear after hovering over them for a second or so.

Quick Launch (QL) labels are important (i.e.; they should probably not be left blank) because QL buttons are also hotspots, so they will be intermixed with other type of hotspots on the Hotspots tab of NextSTART Preferences. Without the labels you will have a hard time figuring out which is which just by looking at the list.

Anyway, keep going, you're a pair of fresh eyes going over every little gritty detail. I like that. :)

It was a bit "hacky" but changing the opacity on certain elements of a theme has solved the taskbar transparency issue...

for now at least
