I get a nice taskbar/tasklist with Winstep themes, but it does not apply to normal Windows applications, such as cmd.exe, Explorer, etc. Is this expected? Or have I got some option set wrong?

this is normal. you are thinking about custom windows themes that may skin everything in windows.

As Chucky said, Winstep only skins itself. If you want to skin the OS, you will need an application like Stardock WindowBlinds.

Wow, ChuckysChild, thanks for those leads!! Looks like I'll have some fun playing with all those options. I really don't like WindowBlinds all that much, just as soon not deal with it.
