Strange title i agree
but being a fan of Rocketdock for years, i thougth id try out Winstep for a change
but seeing as the price was a little high (considering its about 1/3 of the price of windows OS itself) i was a little leery & skeptical

so i opted to try out the infamous Nemo CRACKED version
yes yes, i know ---> BAD me

i Just didn't want to waste my money on something i wasnt sure id like or deem worthy of my starving artist life ..so i beta tested it out

and after a weeks time or so of tinkering around with your program --> i must say i quite like its many features and abilities
So great job to the creators --> you've earned a customer (even if it wasnt the direct way you'd have liked to have !!! YARRR tis a pirate life for me [lol] )



So, Now my question is:

im currently running this cracked version < WINSTEP EXTREME 12.2 > and will buy the same Version ----> but is there a way for me to keep my custom configurations that i have currently setup/saved and easily import them into the boughten REAL version ....so i dont have to waste hours re-setting it all up

*meaning...i have to uninstall the cracked version (obviously)
BUT AFTER INSTALLING YOUR AUTHORIZED PAID PRODUCT ....i dont want to lose the hours of customization i spent while initially testing out the product -- so if i copy over my last saved backup/restore file to a different hard-drive...and reimport it to the proper directory once im running the paid version WILL THAT WORK ???


i really hope so...as id like to support your fine product, but id like to be able to do it without causing me to much grief and hours of tinkering around--if ya know what i mean


so if Jorge, or anyone else can give me a reply to this shady kinda situation i am in - it would be greatly appreciated

for the sooner i get a response --> the sooner they get their money
as im only here to further benefit the official program and its creators instead of the cracked one --> and that's solely my intent here

as i like to pay for the the things i find worthy

now to be honest you really didn't need to download the cracked version cause you have a 30 day trial period. i'm not saying that to give you grief over using the cracked version, i'm just letting you know in case you have friends that want to test out winstep. now with that said as long as you goto the workshelf and nextstart preferences and their respective advanced tab and use their backup and restore functions you should not have any problems restoring your personal settings once you uninstall the cracked version and install a noncracked version. i would suggest that since you do like the program to go ahead and make your purchase and install the legit version after you get your key.

but in regards to your 30 day trial statement, well i honestly never heard of the program before let alone knew about a site with a free trial version -- I just came across the program via a scenerelease/p2p blog, saw it on a page, and downloaded it to give it a try

was from that testing that i was impressed and thought to lok for the actual site as i felt the creators were deserving of said money -- its a great product

- thats not to say i dont have alot of other cracked programs running on my computer ...sshhh LOL but in todays day of age --> who doesnt

so granted, i coulda just kept using this cracked version...
but i like to give credit where credit is due - as im a starving artist as well - so i like to help out other artists when and however i can

SO YOU HAVE ME A BIT CONFUSED WHEN YOU SPEAK OF DOING IT IN THE NEXSTART AND THE WORKSHELF PREFERENCES

ive done a bunch of restores with it thus far and it always restored everything in both the DOCK, The SHELF...as well as any gadgets i use

--> am i missing something...or is that method for older versions and not the 12.2 Extreme ?

as id hate to skip over something and not be able to fully restore my settings when i install the legit copy etc etc

as far as i know nemocrack.ru only cracks winstep xtreme. so you should have nextstart, workshelf, and nexus. nexus dock only has workshelf and nexus. if you have extreme rightclick on the nextstart taskbar and you will see preferences for nextstart.

I pretty much did the exact thing you did. Found the program on p2p, tried a cracked version, fell in love with it, set up 2 docks and a big shelf and a bunch of modules, got rid of the cracked ver, installed the 30 day trial, then bought it. WELL worth the money.

The button you outlined in that image was the only backup I did. It generated one backup file and then using that restore function and that single file restored all that I had created, custom docks, shelf, menus, modules, all of it. So that will work, it did for me.

[now if we could just find out what's going on with Jorge]

yellow if you have winstep xtreme you will have to back up in both locations. one is only for nextstart (nsbackup.nbk), and one is for workshelf/nexus (wsbackup.wbk). they aren't even the same file extention.

Yeah, you're right Chuck. I didn't really do anything with Nextstart until I bought it. It's not a feature that I use a lot. I just discovered the backup for that.

Be careful, the cracked versions should always be uninstalled and the legit version installed in it's place when you are going legit.

This is because the cracked versions are sloppy and seem to have a bug that prevents them from working with a legit license key. I think you can imagine the headache this has already caused me.
