Hello, I'm running Winstep Extreme 11.2 and had a question. I recently upgraded to an UHD monitor which of course makes everything smaller at the native resolution. I have been able to adjust the size of everything in my Winstep software except the system tray icons (see screen shot).

Is there anyway to make those icons bigger? I'm running Windows 7 and the windows task bar displays the icons larger than Winstep does.

By the way, the screenshot makes the icons look fine, but in reality, they are much smaller on my monitor.

Thanks for any help!

NextSTART Preferences -> Taskbar tab -> System Tray Settings button -> 'Icon Size?' slider.

Wait.

V11.2?!!! That's like 2011 old.

Latest release (v15.9) is fully high-DPI compatible - you'll need it for Winstep Xtreme to work properly, since you seem to be running a high-DPI monitor.

Okay thanks! I'll upgrade. Yeah, I have been using Winstep for years and have been stuck on version 11.2.

By the way, do I have to uninstall my current version to install the new version? I don't want to lose all my custom settings.

No, just install the new version on top.

But it doesn't hurt to make a backup of your settings first, right? Don't forget you will have to do this for both NextSTART and WorkShelf, though!

Thanks! If you can, please let me know what you think of v15.9 afterwards, at least in comparison to v11.2. :)

For differences between versions you can check either the history files or the News section on the Winstep web site (for each of the releases since v11.2).

SWEET!!! The "Customize tray icons" was worth the upgrade alone. Exactly what people with a UHD monitor needs. I love it!!

So I got all my system tray icons set up, but decided I wanted to change my sound icon. I went back into the "Customize tray icon" section, and the sound icon is no longer in the list. Why did that happen? The new custom icon that I originally set up still shows up down in the tray, but like I said, it's missing from the list.

Hmmm... I don't think it disappeared...

What I think happened is that the Windows Sound Mixer showed a different Speaker tray icon (for instance, if you Muted the sound) in which case the new icon and the one you customized got grouped together... but the icon that is customized is now buried as a secondary icon in the volume icons group (if that makes sense?)

See if you locate another icon related to Sound, and, if you do and it has a + sign next to it, click the sign to expand the group. My guess is that you will find your customized icon there.

Otherwise expand all groups and see if you can locate your customized volume icon in some other group (if you see the Explorer folder icon, my bet would be that's where it will be). Let me know either way, please.

Oh, duh!! Thanks! I found all the different ones after expanding.

I don't know if you noticed, but Winstep comes with a set of high-res replacement icons for the most common system tray icons, including some multi-state ones.

I didn't notice. How do I access them? This is what I have always loved about your software. Customer participation in setting everything up the way we want.
