Quick preview of a new theme I'm making, heavilly based on the default Winstep Aero theme (maybe I'll call this one AeroSky :D ).

You can also see the new balloon tooltip under Wanda. EDIT: you can now see the new balloon tooltip AND the new weather forecast under the weather module. :D

Anyway, still a long way from being finished, but what do you think?

Looks good Jorge. Keep up the great work.
Winstep just works so smooth with Windowblinds.

Looks great. May I ask why you'd use the 'flag' in the start button? I've been curious about this in 'many a theme' to be honest :)

Because the real Windows Start button has a flag..? That one, for instance, colors up on mouse over.

Fair enough :) I got into skinning because I like to change away from the Microsoft look and feel. The flag thing always makes me wonder :) I'm weird that way ;)

I thought you should use the WinStep 'W' logo instead :D

Get your own brand out there...

Hehe. The problem is that the Winstep logo doesn't scale down well... :D

Anyway, this thing with me making themes - I'm not a skinner, remember - is actually turning out to be a good thing: I've run into limitations and obscure bugs that I would otherwise not be aware of. The difference is that I can fix them. :D

For instance, the desktop clock now supports bitmapped clock hands, and I'm about to add 'gauges' to the CPU, RAM and Net Meter desktop modules as well, so you can optionally display information in an analog gauge format.

I'll have to give a theme a go with a 'W' in the start section. Or better yet, An 'X'! I think the Windows flag promotes Windows (duh!) when you ? with Xtreme ? are creating something that makes the operating system so much more.

I've been working in a marketing department for too long ;)

Clock hands. Let me just say "Awesome!" :D

Which reminds me: do you still have those little Winstep Xtreme buttons you made? :D

Ok, I've updated the screenshot - all the modules are done. The clock is using the new bitmapped clock hands feature, and the CPU, ram and net meter modules are using the new gauge + gauge shadow (used for the needles) and module overlay features (used for the central dot and the glare effect on the small blue displays).

I based the cpu, ram and net meters on Tiggz's excellent KTEK skin for Sysmetrix - still have to ask him for permission, though.

Now I guess it's a question of taking care of the loose ends and a few details (I think I'll change the menu selection bar to blue, to match the task mouse over button, which unfortunately is not visible on this screenshot).

I won't be able to release the theme without first releasing another Winstep Xtreme version though, since this theme is so dependent on the new features.

That looks great. I look forward to the next version of Xtreme and this skin. I love the new meters and clock hands. The clock hands look like they have shadow. Will the shadow always be on the correct side of the clock hand?

Yes!

The shadow is an optional second bitmap, which is shifted right and down from the clock center by 1 pixel before being rotated.
