All the themes in the gallery are interesting! But why can I only download 20 themes per day? What's the reason for this limitation?

The daily download limit exists because server resources are not unlimited. Every single download consumes bandwidth, CPU, disk I/O, and connection slots on the server. These resources are shared by many thousands of users at the same time.

If everyone tried to download dozens or hundreds of themes per day:

The server would be flooded with simultaneous requests.

Bandwidth would be saturated, causing downloads to slow to a crawl.

CPU and disk usage would spike, making the server unresponsive.

Legitimate users might not be able to download anything at all.

In extreme cases, the server could crash or become unreachable.

This is exactly what happens when limits are removed: a relatively small number of heavy users unintentionally degrade the experience for everyone else by downloading as much as they can, as quickly as possible.

Twenty themes per day is quite generous, already gives you plenty to explore if you are not just hoarding themes, and it keeps the system fair and stable. This limit together with the requirement to have an account in the forums ensures:

The server stays fast and stable.

Everyone gets fair access to downloads.

No single user can monopolize resources.

The gallery remains available 24/7 without outages.

It’s not about restricting anyone’s enjoyment - the limit ensures that both the gallery and the application downloads remain fast, reliable, and available 24/7.

There has been a pause in my uploading...As I mentioned in a conversation with Jorge, I have been working on a concept that approaches from a different angle. Yeah, I know that sounds incredibly cryptic. It is not intended to confuse or whet for that matter either. It is impossible to explain as sure as the concept I chose to develop themes on are impossible to cover every notable aspect of them. I have completed 14 themes out of 24. An idea of what I have done is in the two dir screenshots below.

I will have to upload when all are finished in three passes, because I can only upload a maximum of ten per diem. I created a base template, base sketches, base wireframes and base placeholders, each which was changed to fit the theme I was working on. Smarter, not harder.

For user convenience, they all start with the same name so if anyone silly enough to download all 24, they'll show up nicely in sequence together in Workshelf. I knocked it on the head at 24 because each genre and style has a pile of subcultures, so I 'drew a line in the sand' metaphorically and stopped at 24. Anyway, I am still a week or two away because believe it or not, I do actually have a life.

Cheers

Some people might have noticed the quality and minor changes to Workshelf in 26.1?
having a network license, I checked on four computers which suffered the same theme author being a smartass(me). That is, in a few themes prior to 26.1, the Active and Inactive tabs I had wrapped very tightly. In 26.1 they appeared misaligned, and that's on me. I have fixed them.

So if anyone wants them I am not reuploading entire themes, it is too painful for only two small images.
So ask here, name the theme and I will upload the two here as transparent png's from the theme you name that I have changed to accommodate the shift.
cheers

Nine (9) Themes of the 24 uploaded to GALLERY.

The rest I'll do when I have time over the next couple of weeks.
Cheers

SIDE-NOTE:
Categorizing became a rule of thumb. While some people might say something like "But this Artist is POP??" - and they are probably correct, except I chose to look at the Genre/Style they started in before they became extremely Popular(POP). e.g. Nirvana started as an Indie alternative band before they became classed as Pop and in the Rock Genre. Some artists go straight for the Popular market, and some just end up becoming popular.
Cheers

I have done 20 of the 24. I am only posting one image instead of cluttering the forum. They'll be uploaded sometime in the next week after the last four are done.

3 left to finish in the set, so I'll upload in increments over the coming week or so. 21 done, there are only 9 in the gallery at the moment.

Here's 3 that will be uploaded. The Jazz one was an experiment. I usually do not do bulky extra large modules, but I found they became unreadable any smaller.
Anyway... Back to it.

That'll do for now. If people are interested, I am sure they can look or D/L in the Gallery. If they do not know where the Gallery is, they only need PM a moderator or Jorge if they're a registered user.

BassdudeNZ! I downloaded and installed your new music themes for Winstep Xtreme. They're very interesting! Thank you so much for your work! Yes, the gallery isn't on the website (but it's easy to find in your browser's search bar). Because of this, downloads from the gallery are very few. Why? Your work deserves to be seen by many!

That's very kind of you to say so and I am glad you like them.

Jorge is making the Gallery public (@Jorge hehe). Jorge and I have a metaphorical "Scratch each other's back" arrangement. I supply as many themes as my imagination can envisage and he supplies the tools. I believe his application needs to be more widely used Globally because it is great and he will only keep developing on it for as long as he can. I chose in discussion with him not to put it on Deviant Art, Wincustomize or any of the other sites and keep it here for only official Winstep users because he is going to make it public as one of his projects, when he gets around to redesigning the layout to his specifications.

What this means for him as well as me and any other skinner that wants to upload, is people have to come here and get them, not everywhere. :)

I understand and very much appreciate your sentiments, but believe me when I say recognition is not something I am too concerned about as much as I sincerely appreciate your comments and others.

Doing the 24th and intended 'last' of the Music style themes, I worked out I had missed GOSPEL completely. So I guess there will be 25...sigh...
- as you all were.

I completely agree with you. The themes should be posted in the gallery on Jorge's website. This is exclusive to you! And only for official Winstep users! I look forward to your 11 new musical themes! Sincerely, Petr. :D

Last one done. Yes, Wanda is joined - there is a choir of fish. - and yes, the HDD overlay is a platter circumference made from a choir. Too hard to resist.

I am taking a day away and then I'll upload in 3-4 at a time as I have a LOT of compressing to do before I convert to xtreme files.
cheers
