Doesn't WB have a setting NOT to skin your systray? I seem to recall someone mentioning this a long time ago... Personally I don't use WB, so I wouldn't know.

Forgot to ask: does NextSTART crash or freeze when you click on the modified WB systray?

it crashes, and the only system tray option in WB is to put a WB icon in the tray, but thats it

an update to this problem, it does not happen with all WindowBlinds skins, i think it may be related to skins that contain transparent taskbars

Related to this (in the sense that its a Windowblinds/Nextstart issue) I'm pretty sure the earlier post a made about the systray.ico being clipped is down to Windowblinds driving the systray size. After seeing this post I had a play with the Windowblinds taskbar size options and had the systray icon size varying to match. Not sure there's anything Jorge can do about it, but at least I know what the cause is.
Another Windowblinds/Nextstart issue I've come across is that it seems that after I've come back from the screensaver Nextstart's menus are deeper in the z-order than the skinned window headers and so the menus appear behind the window frames/headers, though still function normally. Again, I don't think this is an issue for Jorge, this is just for info.

peter i'm not sure i agree with you on that, seeing as nextstart seems to hide the default windows taskbar anyways, so it's not really behind it as it seems in my screen shot

You are right - its nothing to do with Windowblinds (the systray.ico is clipped whether WB is loaded or not). I can't reproduce whatever I did a couple of weeks ago to get a larger systray icon which made think WB was the cause. Oh well.

I get a similar Task Bar image when using the WindowBlind "Flash - Live System".

My apologies on the lack of replies. It means at this point I still have absolutely *no idea* what could be causing this problem (except that it is probably WindowBlinds related).

I'll try to run some tests with WB loaded (I don't use it, by the way), but it would be nice if you could come up with a list of actions/skins/settings/whatever that would help me to reliably reproduce the problem here.

It depends on the Windowblinds skin. Some skins are larger than others which causes the "raising" of the taskbar.

i'm not sure i follow what you mean by raising? from what i can tell, when nextstart starts, it hides the bar anyways, so i shouldn't see anything. it's not just lying on top is it?

The systray itself is not 'created' by NextSTART, but rather 'captured' from Explorer, e.g.; in other words, the systray you see is the 'real thing', not a NextSTART generated version.

If WB changes the height of the systray window, then NextSTART will have to resize the Startbar to accomodate the new systray height. If NextSTART is not aware that something has changed the height of the systray, then you might end up with a systray that is 'cut in half'.
