Hello

Per the subject line, can I still get the Black Friday discount at this time? If so, what is the coupon code please?

I'm looking at buying the Winstep Xtreme - Home Network Edition (5 user).

Thanks

Toby

Hmm, what's that smell around here? Do I smell a great big rat of a spam bot or what? :P

Just in case I'm mistaken - there is no and never has been any 'Black Friday' discount! (What, at *these* prices? You're kidding!)

Sorry I'm not following you. The Black Friday special (30% off) is mentioned on the home page of winstep.net with a link to ... https://www.winstep.net/news/black_friday_2024.asp

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that promotion. However, the sale is evidently over as the prices on the site are at their normal level.

Thanks. That's unfortunate because with my country's exchange rate plus an extra 10% government tax, and the fact that I actually only require Winstep for 2 PCs (so the other 3 licenses were going to be unused), I can't justify the full/normal price.

I guess I'll just have to purchase a single license and make do.

Cheers

Toby.

Well, IIRC rule of thumb used to be that you could use single license on one desktop and one laptop PC. I think that might perhaps stretch to two desktops or two laptops, as long as Winstep isn't active on both at the same time perhaps. Maybe Jorge Coelho might come in on this to pronounce...

That would be quite helpful. I need it for my laptop and also for a VM that runs on my laptop. I essentially separate non-critical work from critical work between the physical and virtual machines. But at any given time, I'm pretty much only working on one instance of Windows i.e. I am the only user of both instances.

Will wait to see what he says :)

I'm pretty sure that'll be fine. :)

Actually, I'm getting close to going ahead and placing the order instead of waiting for Jorge's response. How does the license/registration work? If I buy the single device key, do I just apply the same key to both installations? Or must I wait for Jorge to send me a second key (assuming he agrees)?

Should I just risk it and place the order now?

As both systems won't be running at the same time you can use the same reg. Like I said, I think it should be alright to go ahead. :)

Well, I won't be interacting with both at the same time, but there'll be times when the VM is running and that runs on the laptop, so both instances of Winstep would be running simultaneously at those times. And both the physical and VM will be connected to the internet, so I guess some sort of check is done and the same key will be seen on 2 machines. Maybe I should just buy the 5 user license instead.

Any idea when Jorge might read this thread? I know I can't email him directly and must use this forum.

I'm sure Jorge should be around in the next few days, so I'd hang on and see.
