Floating docks will not collapse for no reason. Double check your auto-hide settings in Dock Properties -> Behavior tab -> Auto-Hide Settings button. Also verify the two main auto-hide settings in the Behavior tab itself.

Also, look at the activation settings as well, in particular 'Activation acts as a toggle...'

None of the autohide or activation settings are on for those 2 docks.

I did have the activation acts as a toggle on so I turned that off, maybe that'll do it. Not sure why that would even trigger though, they collapse when I'm in an entirely different window and my mouse is nowhere near them lol. And it's always only 1 or the other, never both.

But we'll see if that fixes it. Weird though since the activation and autohide stuff is all off completely for them. I only need them on the desktop and they don't need to hide as there's nothing else on my desktop but a few gadgets lol.

But that reminded me of another issue I had with the shelf stuff actually, in addition to the previously discussed stuff the worst issue was it always grabbing focus, if it didn't I could just mouse away from it and it would hide and it wouldn't be a big deal, but it does grab focus as soon as it starts to open (at I think around 30% open) so that forces me to click somewhere else to collapse it before going back to what I was doing.

Now I noted in the activation settings for the docks there's a checkbox for if you want it to grab focus or not, but the shelves (and drawers) don't have that setting so they always grab focus.

Not a big deal with the drawers because I tucked them in spots I won't accidently activate them so if I am activating them it's fine.

But is it possible to add the grab focus option to the shelves too? That would mitigate the issue somewhat because I could just mouse away but as it stands it grabs focus automatically so I have to click somewhere else to take the focus back and there's no option to turn grab focus off for the shelves.

Ah, right, the sort of Cent-OS successor. Like the concept of an 8-year LTS! :) Didn't realise cPanel was still around! Came across it in the '90s - shows you how long I've been out of touch with that side of things. :)

Yeah, CentOS was my preferred flavor but since I have to deal with cPanel and they don't support it anymore I had to move all my customers to Alma servers. It's pretty much the same anyways. At least I have 8 years before I have to worry about doing server moves again, hopefully I'll be retired by then :)

That 8 year TLS has a lot of advantages. :) Actually, I think all major distros should have that, with an added 'grace' period of another 2 years of security and essentials updates. Never going to happen though - things change far too quickly for that, alas.

It's come a long ways in terms of features etc, but now they sold out to an investment company that is stuffing it all up. That same company literally owns every single web control panel for servers and VPS systems, with the exception of windows. Hell they even bought WHMCS.

Ouch, that's a real bugger. In effect a monopoly - shouldn't be allowed. :|

You can change the Windows log in background image in Windows Settings already.

Is it currently posible to sort folder attached to dock in in non-ultimate version of Nexus? I've attached Downloads folder to dock, and it sorts it alphabetically, and I want to sort it by creation date.

You mean when the contents of the folder are being shown in a menu, isn't it? No it is not currently possible.

If you were running one of the paid versions (either Nexus Ultimate or Winstep Xtreme) you would be able to use Grid Stacks instead of the menus. Those can show the contents of folders sorted by name, date, type or file size.

Thank you for response, but I'm not really interested in grid stacks. Will you be able to consider adding sorting option to folder list in free or Ultimate version?

Yes, it is a possibility as it is indeed a useful feature. :D

I have another idea, I've noticed a very useful feature to hide/show dock with key shortcut, but the space is still reserved for it and windows can't be stretched to that space. Is it possible to trigger disabling that reserved space, when hiding the dock with key shortcut, and enabling it back with dock unhiding?

It's not that it's not possible, but there is a reason a Windows taskbar that auto-hides does not do that either. Not only is adding and removing a "reserved screen area" a jarring and very time consuming operation, as the mechanism built into Windows for this will move non-maximized windows out of a newly reserved area but will NOT move them back when the reserved area is destroyed.

You will be better off doing what the Windows taskbar also does: set the dock to be always on top and enable auto-hide.

Yeah that's how I currently use it. I thought of that idea because I also thought it's technically difficult if not impossible to do so, but new beta version of StartAllBack 3.8.11 version actually allows that to happen when you hide/show taskbar, and it resizes windows automatically as well. Thanks for explanation anyway.

How about just toggling auto-hide settings with hotkey? Should be easier to implement right? It'd actually immitate startallback behavior I've mentioned above.

I have two quite minor suggestion this time - Dock does not seem to have size 24x24 as an ooption in Dock context menu. Which is quite handy, especially as size 24 is default size for Windows 11 taskbar icons afaik. Additionally, context menu for Light mode is too transparent or maybe rather too greyish, which makes it harder to read on darker background. Makign it a little bit more white would make it much more readable.

I've tested dock offset from the bottom and I've expected it to work like on macOS, but it doesn't - it doesn't highlight dock icons in order to run them, that empty space behaves like it's not part of dock, making it quite useless. Would be nice to have at least a toggle-able option for this empty space to be part of dock, so the cursor can pickup icons from that empty space.

edit: added gif to showcase what I mean

Thanks for the GIF and for the suggestion. It would indeed have to be a toggle-able option as currently that feature is used mainly to create space for other screen objects below the dock (assuming it is docked to the bottom screen edge, of course)
