Terrible news. Many people at the hospital tried but could not get an IV started on my mom. Shocking to me, her heart is no longer beating correctly, her BP is low, and her pulse is high. So because of that, the blood isn't sufficiently pumped into her veins. They sent her home in the wee hours of the morning. I had to stay up for 5 hours until they brought her home.

My mom's diagnosis is cerebral arteriosclerosis. That is the reason she cannot swallow. The arteries in her brain are clogged. So with that, my mom only has days left.

I have my mom on oxygen. I just finished trying to get her to swallow using an oral syringe with water and a thickener mixed in it. She only swallowed about 5 mils out of the 40 mils I administered. The unswallowed portion just ran out of her mouth.

The hospice nurse will be here any minute. I'm going to sign off now.

Well, it's over. My mom just passed away. The nurse came and we were going to see how things were going and when we checked, she was gone. :(

Oh hell, I'm so sorry to learn your sad news Windy. :( You have my deepest sympathy and condolences. I think about the very worst thing in life is one's mother or one's spouse dying. I share your sadness and grief.

The only consolation, if one can call it that, is that your dear mum does not suffer any more. The way you cared for her and took care of her should be an example to us all and deserves the highest regard and respect, as well as admiration, and is worthy of a medal.

People always say 'it'll get better in time', but really we just learn to cope better with our losses and grief, eventually.

Take care Windy, and take time to let it all sink in. My thoughts are and will be with you.

Thanks, Nexter, that means a lot to me.

I've returned home. I was gone for more than two weeks. I had to deal with the funeral arrangements, having her body shipped to another state, and many other things regarding her funeral. There was quite a large turnout. I saw many family members and friends I hadn't seen in years.

Since my return, I've been dealing with estate matters. It's been very trying for several reasons I won't get into.

I hope to be more active on the site soon. There are some things around the house that I have to take care of beforehand besides estate issues.

Good to see you back here again Windy, and in a way good that you're being kept busy. (Although I'm sure there must be times when you perhaps wish it would all just go away...)

I am still sad about your mother and have you both in my thoughts as always.

It will be good to see you more active here again, as and when you're ready. Do whatever you have to do, take your time. Hope estate matters won't be too trying much longer, and that you're well.

Take care, my friend, and keep well.

Thanks for your support. I will try to be more active again.

Yes, I sure do wish it would all go away. I'm trying to absorb everything that has happened in the last few years.

My support's a given Windy, and given sincerely and happily. :) Do take your time with getting active in the forums again, there's no rush. Just do what you have to do, and take it easy.

I can imagine! The last few years you seem to never have had a chance to take in anything really - I know what that's like from family experience and also to some extent from my own. It's hard, but know that I'll always have your back Windy.
