I am using NextStart v10.6 which comes as a part of Winstep Xtreme.

The quick launch section of the taskbar has reverted most icons to the default (blank page) icon. Changing the size to 48x48 seems to resolve MOST of them (there are still a couple that won't display properly) but it seems kind of hit-and-miss with that method, and the icons now take up too much space.

Also, on the actual start menus, all of the small thumbnail icons for any shortcut (I'm using the included 'Aero LowRes' theme) also displays only the default icon (the blank page). Actual files, such as html files or help files that are within the start menu folders DO display the icon correctly.

I have rebuilt the icon cache for all of Windows, with no change.

I have applied another theme, then re-applied the 'Aero LowRes' theme, with no change. (The problem also existed in the other themes... unusable quick launch icons.)

Is there a way to 'rebuild the icon cache' in NextStart? (Or have I found a bug?) ...or perhaps reset to 'factory default' for the NextStart only? (I have quite a few settings in WorkShelf that I don't want to lose.)

BTW, This seems to be only an issue with NextStart... the WorkShelf displays the 'quick launch' icons properly. (See attached image.)

Hi!

Could be the Stardock's Icon Packager bug. Check this thread here.

I seem to remember this issue occurring before I installed the trial of IconPackager, which is why I've been running only the WorkShelf component of WinStep Xtreme. I think I downloaded the trial of IconPackager to fix the original issue, but that was months ago.

That being said, I installed the fix from the article you mentioned, and that seems to have corrected the issue.

Thanks for the input. Chalk this one up as solved.

I'm also enjoying the recent update to v10.6!!! Great work guys!

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and the download is only for Vista and XP.

Are you suffering from the same problem, Gregory?

The Vista 64 bit fix *should* work on Windows 7 - but you'll have to ask Stardock to be sure.

Stardock used to have a script that provided an alternate fix, but now that page is 404.

Are you using or did you use Stardock's IconPackager in your system? If you're still using it, perhaps re-installing IconPackager might fix the problem.
