Actually, now that we're talking about skins, I'd like a bit more info on how you do the resize of any image. Actually, the *h4ck* I did to skin the pop-up balloons, offered me some insight, but I'd like to know for sure.

From what I've seen, you're doing the (sensible) box-resize, which means you cut each image in 9 pieces, the 4 corners stay untouched, the top/right/bottom/left middle pieces get resized by width (top/bottom) or height (right/left) and only the centre piece gets a full resize to fill the middle gap (you could do that middle resize bilinear for better results, instead of bit-multiply).
I'd like to know the limits, though, since I sometimes can see distortion. Like, how many pixels deep does the outline cut into each image?

...and I'd still like the pop-up menus skinnable for Nexus Ultimate, also. ;)

skinnable, resizeable, and the option to just turn the off would be great.

i just went through all the options for workshelf / nexus and there is no option for turning off the nexus ballon boxes. if you are referring to turning them off in windows in general i use them.

Eh, no, *you* suggested turning off the right-click menus, not me.

I just said, skinnable pop-up balloons AND pop-up menus (right-click menus). I never said anything about turning off anything.

and i suggested an option for turning off the balloon popups when you mouseover an item on the nexus dock.

i know where the confusion came from. a right click menu is not a popup menu, a popup menu is one you mouseover and without clicking pops up.

You can turn off balloon tooltips if you want (although it is not recommended): WorkShelf/Nexus Preferences -> Advanced tab -> Advanced button -> disable Show balloon information tooltips on mouse over...

i would just like to be able to turn them off on the nexus dock. they are great and very helpful on the workshelf. see on nexus dock all i have is recycler, krazdkiller's docs, administrative tools, network, computer, outlook, ie, firefox, desktop downloads, and desktop shortcuts, and sandisk. none of these i can mistake for each other, so no need for a popup informing me of what they are. the workshelf on the other had is a completely different story.

Simple thing (I think :) )...

User can reduce size (scale) of a module in range 10% - 100%, but this feature doesn't allow scale up size above default size. What do you think about changing scale range from 10% - 100% to 10% - 150% or 10% - 200%?

Best regards,
Janusz

here are a couple more suggestions:

gor the one working on the blade winstep xtreme them would like a per tab setting for how many rows show. not a bad idea.

also we both would like to see per shelf settings. icons, fonts, reflection, etc can be different for each workshelf.

also how about being able to change the font size and color in context menu's like you can for the nextstsrt menu?

and yes as mentioned before more custom sounds.

all docks are set to autohide.

Should have checked to see if mentioned, but too hard to quick search and not so much a feature request as much as an improvement to customizing a small issue you already addressed Here Found that because the desktop modules launched for me the first time in an odd position so I was seeing if there's any issues with positioning.
I think it may be much easier for theme consistency across different resolutions to allow custom X/Y Offsets. Like you already do for the Nexus Dock from the screen edge for example, so no matter what resolution the screen is, the module will always be X and Y pixels away from either the top left edge (positive number offset) or bottom right edge (negative number offset).

Probably will never happen. The scaling option was added because the desktop modules in some themes were just too big to be pratical in small screen resolutions. Besides, scaling is done transparently to the module, so it's easy to scale down, not so straightforward to scale up.

You mean per each tab on the Shelf? Won't happen either, for a variety of reasons - for one, the vertical size of the Shelf is calculated on current icon size. Now imagine the mess if each tab had a diffent icon size.

Context menus in Winstep Xtreme *are* NextSTART menus. Open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the Themes tab, Advanced, enable 'Use the theme currently active in NextSTART'. Now your context menus will appear exactly as they do in NextSTART.

First time you load a a new theme, re-position the modules and place them where you want. From then on, the theme will remember the module positions you set whenever you switch back to it.

Furthermore, this is also true for different screen resolutions too: switch to a different screen resolution, reposition the modules for that particular resolution, switch back, modules will appear where they were before you switched resolutions. Switch back to the other resolution, modules will be were you placed them the last time.

No I totally understood that method, my thought here is especially for theme designers, where having an option to set to allow users to see it the way the theme was designed, correctly the first time. I could see someone trying a theme out and thinking it looks ugly at first simply because the modules were placed on a different resolution to begin with. EDIT - thought about that, it would have to be in % or another measurement, by pixel it would be the same issue at different resolutions lol whoops

On a separate thing: 3rd party modules. Windows 7 got away from the Vista sidebar (thank god, I hated that thing) to allow gadgets to run separate from a dedicated sidebar. Now I don't think its realistic to expect Winstep to control skinning or options set in a gadget, but how about possibly a "start up" option to where a theme could have several 3rd party modules load up on theme load, and just not do anything if the particular user did not have that gadget installed? Might allow some unique themes based on the add-ons that it could load (I don't know how easy this would be to implement given application access rights, just throwing this out there)

+1 vote here, the Nexus dock looks stupid with those tooltips, and I would think the average user would only have items they don't need tooltips for on the Nexus (and if they need tooltips after they highlight something on Nexus I'd start to wonder if they have the necessary tooltip taped to their computers on/off button  )
