I am leaving Objectdock 2 and I like your options. I have this tabbed dock skin I made for Objectdock that I would like to keep:

In Nexus Ultimate and Winstep Xtreme you can use shelfs as they're basically tabbed docks. There is a problem with your skin though, since it shows the tabs centered and not stretched to the width of the dock, while our shelves generally have the tabs having the width of the shelf.

No problem, I can live with that. In this case, I'll be installing a trial later for sure .

Will I be able to import my background as it is into a Nexus shelf? Or do I need to make modifications? If I need to make modifications, is there a skinning guide or something I could look at to figure out what I need to change?

Currently the skinning stuff is being overhauled and is going into a separate application for that. That's why there are no manuals or so either.
If you have access to the beta forums, there are discussions about skinning

If it helps, HERE is a link to the old WorkShelf User Guide, it has a whole section dedicated to skinning.

However, skinning Winstep applications was always performed via the GUI instead of editing configuration files, so you won't find any explanation as to what the settings in the text configuration files do.

I've also been thinking about a way to make the Shelf compatible with OD tabbed dock skins as well.

Thanks guys! After reading that over and looking at full winstep extreme skins, I think I'll wait till your skin app is finished. In the meantime can anyone point me to a workshelf skin that is in the same style as mine? Just something that is a flat shelf?

Have you looked in the Winstep gallery at Wincustomize?

I don't think you will find a skin like that, though: that skin works because OD tabbed docks are single-row only, so they can get away with it. Winstep skins, on the other hand, need to support a Shelf displaying more than one row of icons, and this with user-defined icon sizes.

Yeah went through beginning to end of the skins at Wincustomize, Deviant art and customize.org .

Yeah I see what you mean though. Its hard to make a flat shelf that will support 2 rows of icons. I found an alternative though. Sub docks! . These are awesome.

Just so you know, I've installed the trial and used it for like 4 hours and I took the deal for the discount of the networked home edition today. That is the fastest I have ever trialed and bought an app ever!
