I have the RAM and CPU gadgets on the left side of my screen and I set both of them to locked position. After switching users and logging back on again both gadgets have moved over to the right side of the screen and the locked position option is unselected. :?

The weather gadget remains locked on the left side, only the RAM and CPU gadgets move.

How can I get them to stay "locked" on the left side?

While themes, etc, are shared between users, Winstep settings are 'per user'. So backup your settings while logged in as your 'normal user' and restore them when the 'other' user is logged on.

Don't forget you need to backup and restore WorkShelf as well as NextSTART settings.

Just to confirm the situation...

I set the gadgets up on the left side of the screen and change their position to locked. Then I choose the Windows switch user option and my GF logs on. She logs off and I log back on again and the gadgets are mysteriously on the right side of the screen with their position not locked.

My GF isn't using Xtreme at all, so there aren't any conflicting settings. Just my settings are disappearing when I log off and back on again, and only for two of the three gadgets.

Ok, try the following and let me know what happens: before switching users so your GF can log in, right click one of the Desktop Modules then select 'Desktop Modules -> Save Module Positions'.

Let me know if this fixes the problem, please.

Excellent! :D That fixed the problem!

But I'm not sure why I needed to do that when I had the module position locked. Is it something to do with auto-arrange?

No, I think it has to do with another feature, actually: when you switch screen resolutions, Winstep 'remembers' the position of all the modules that are currently open so that, when you switch back to that resolution, you don't have to re-arrange them again.

This is great because it means you can have different module layouts per screen resolution. Ah, and this 'memory' is per-theme too, so each theme can have the desktop modules arranged differently.

For some reason, logging back in as you was triggering the module position recollection, as if you had just switched resolutions/themes. However, not all the modules were open the last time you actually did switch resolutions/theme, so there was only position data for those that were, the remaining being arranged automatically.
