When I go onto my browser (Google chrome), the dock auto-hides after a delay. When i try to bring it up by bumping it, it doesn't appear. I have to go to desktop to bump it up again.

This is a bit annoying because it takes away a bit of the usefulness of the dock.

I think this is the best dock I've seen yet, just this small problem hindering my full appreciation...

Hopefully someone can tell me the obvious or sort it out for me :)

In Dock Properties > Position > Keep dock always above other windows > (select) "Always above other windows"
it should workaround this issue. Although, I'm using the dock normally (auto-hide disabled), I've set it to show up when bumping the screen edge, and it works fine... may this be an auto-hide issue?

For now, I haven't maximised the browser, just resized it to fit the screen and left a bit at the bottom, so now i can bump the edge and the dock will appear.
Well, if anyone has any suggestions/solutions...

By design, Nexus will ignore edge bumps when a full screen application (such as a game) is running, so as not to accidentally interfere with it.

Please note that full screen is not the same as maximized - if you are running Chrome full screen instead of maximized, then the dock will ignore the edge bumps as it is designed to do.

I didn't say I was running my browser in full-screen. I was running it maximised; shouldn't the dock be bump-able?

Can you please post a screenshot of your desktop with Chrome maximized (i.e.; when Nexus ceases to respond to edge bumps)? Also, what version of Google Chrome are you running?

When I run Chrome maximized here, I have no problems activating the dock.

Thanks for the screenshot, but now my next question to you is: where is the Windows taskbar in that screenshot? :D

A maximized window - as opposed to a full screen window - does not cover up the Windows taskbar.

In the preferences, I chose to hide the windows task bar and the desktop. That is one of the uses of the dock.

Ah-ah.

And let me guess: if you make the Windows taskbar visible again, the dock starts responding to mouse bumps even when Chrome is maximized?

That's right. But one of the reasons I use the dock is because I want to hide the task bar...

Yeah, I understand that, and I was just trying to make sure I had figured out what was happening. :D

Note how this only happens with Chrome: this is because it's not really a maximized window (normal maximized windows have title bars, Chrome doesn't) and so, when the taskbar is hidden (which makes Chrome use the full screen area) it ends up meeting the requirements of what a full screen window is - even though it's actually maximized.

Well, at least now I know what the problem with Chrome is. Let's see what I can do to fix the problem for the next release - the obvious solution is to exclude the Chrome window from ever being considered a full screen window. But then, we might run into the opposite problem.

Well, thanks for trying. I'll just keep the browser minimised, that seems to be a solution of sorts.
