...took a bit of... ahem... "persuasion"... but no harm done, don't worry.

That's about the only great thing about ObjectDock, lol. In any case, I'll be sticking with Nexus for a while yet. I finally got my license resent to me today, so I'm happy again. Sorry that I bitched so much about the wait, and the threat to get a refund. I know Jorge seems to have a lot on his plate, and I didn't really want to make it more difficult for him, but one can only be patient for so long, lol. Anyway, no harm done I hope!

Well, if I can't get a weather or a clock connection going through winstep, then this product no longer meets my needs.

...and I'm telling you, it's not Winstep. If it were, it wouldn't be working on any computer, and I've got it installed and working on too many to be a coincidence for me -- AMD and Intel CPUs, nVidia, Intel, AMD chipsets, AMD and nVidia GPUs... it's even running on an Intel Atom netbook and an nVidia ION HTPC.
Now, I have no idea why yours isn't connecting to the internet, but it's not Winstep's fault...
I'd suggest you go through your firewall or security suite settings, antivirus, even router port forwarding.

Sorry, Mikey.

I can't stress this enough, people should back up their license keys to floppy or cd for their own protection. Says so in the license text that goes with the key.

Yes, I know it does. And being a computer guy, I always try to back my stuff up. Heck, I have a program that finds all my keys and backs them up to word to be printed out. Guess I forgot Winstep wasn't one of those, and subsequently forgot to back-up the key. Rest assured this time I have saved the key to my external HDD as well so if I need to do another system install, I won't lose it this time. Out of curiosity, Jorge, I noticed Winstep hasn't been updated in quite some time. Are you still developing and adding to it?

Yep, as soon as I have enough changes to justify a new release.

And I'm telling you that when I right click on the weather module and select "Detailed Weather Conditions" I connect with no problem. :x

Yeah, congrats. You just verified that your browser is working.
That, however, shows nothing about what's blocking Winstep's network access.

Is it sarcasm when you point out to someone what they did, and that it's not relevant?

In plainest terms:
Something in your computer is blocking Winstep's access to the outside world, maybe network access altogether.
The fact that nothing internet-related works (weather, clock) means that it's not a "settings" problem, nor is it the weather module that's not working. It means that Winstep is not allowed internet access, by something external to Winstep.
The fact that, by clicking the icon, it opens up the browser and you can see the Weather.com forecast, means that Winstep is actually doing nothing more than sending the relevant URL to the default browser and telling it "hey, load THIS". Which is the same as you typing a URL or clicking a URL-shortcut. It's still the browser that accesses the internet, not Winstep, in the same way that it's not your keyboard or mouse that connect to the internet when you type an address in the browser bar or click a URL-shortcut.

Now, Jorge may have a better idea, but as I've already told you, check your firewall, security suite or whatever else could be blocking Winstep's access.

Just confirming what Skagon said (sarcasm not included, you have to purchase that separately  )
