so, i use microsoft word 2010 a lot. I noticed that sometimes as i scroll up and down the document, winstep dockbar sometimes appears in front of the typing program (i have a dockbar on the right-side of the screen) and my pointer loses focus. this is very annoying. This happens when i scroll up and down using google chrome, too. I have winstep xtreme 12.2. Please make this better!

sounds to me that you need to learn better mouse control. sounds like sometime while you're scrolling you inadvertently move your mouse pointer all the way over to the edge of the screen. i have a nexus dock on the right side of my screen set to autohide and always on top. if i start scrolling and down the screen in any open program and slice the pointer all the way to the right edge of the screen nexus will popout. this in turn causes me to have to release the mouse button, move off nuxus, move back to the scroll bar, and click again to continue dragging down the page.

You could keep you mouse still and use the mouse wheel.

Or you could attach the dock on the left side of the monitor, where there are no scroll bars. ;)

skagon nice idea, but if gyrocopter101 is like me he likes his dock on the right edge.

Well, Chucky, it's a typical case of "you can't have your cake *and* eat it", isn't it?
I mean, he wants the dock on the right, he wants it to pop up on edge bump, he also scrolls windows by dragging the scroll-bars and he won't use the mouse wheel or the mousepad scroll strip.
I'm sorry, but there isn't anything that can be done, is there? Do you really want to fill up the Winstep code with stupid checks for everything? Like, "on edge bump show dock, but only if the mouse isn't on a scroll-bar and the mouse button isn't pressed"?
If we start doing that, then everyone will come up with some quirk pertinent *only* in their particular usage habits and we'll end up doing more checks than actually running useful code.
I take it you, having the same setup, have either found ways around it, or your mouse accuracy has increased, so that you don't inadvertently activate the dock. I would suggest that gyrocopter do the same.

I'm always all for programmes being configurable and adaptable, so that they fit the user's needs and not the other way around. But... there are *some* things that, by design, have to be *there*. Like, for instance, the scroll-bars being on the right-side. And if a window is maximised, the scroll-bar will inexorably be positioned on the right edge of the display. There's no way around that.

In a way, it's like, in your car, putting your cell-phone cradle in front of the gear lever, so every time you put on 3rd, you press speed-dial; and then going to the phone manufacturer and saying "you should change your phone's software so that this doesn't happen"...

like henk1956 and i respectively said "You could keep you mouse still and use the mouse wheel.", "sounds to me that you need to learn better mouse control. sounds like sometime while you're scrolling you inadvertently move your mouse pointer all the way over to the edge of the screen. i have a nexus dock on the right side of my screen set to autohide and always on top. if i start scrolling and down the screen in any open program and slice the pointer all the way to the right edge of the screen nexus will popout. this in turn causes me to have to release the mouse button, move off nuxus, move back to the scroll bar, and click again to continue dragging down the page." neither henk1956 nor i suggested nor came even close to making making a suggestion about adding another feature to winstep. most people would assume if i'm telling someone "sounds to me that you need to learn better mouse control." that i don't have the problem. an example of what's causing the problem(in this case human error) is not even close to being a suggestion for a new winstep feature.

:D so in a nutshell my dear mad hatter skagon looks like i alis can have my cake and eat it to. next time the white rabbit offers you pills to make you grow please make sure they're not prozac. :D

Chucky, mate, I never said *you* asked for it.

*He* did, though.

And I actually pointed it out:

What I got from the original post, was that he was asking for some kind of "bug fix" or extra code. And that's why you can't have your cake (i.e. edge bump activations) and eat it (i.e. no activations on *some* edge bumps).

I know what I'm saying. And I know what you said. I just repeated it in different words. That hardly qualifies as me being on hallucinogens.

your post was to me, and not to gyrocopter. that aside you know i was just poking fun. don't be sooooo serious next time just try to have a quirky comeback.

i usually click and drag on the scroll window, but when i do click and drag the scroll bar if i inadvertently stray off of it i stray to the left not the right. yes straying to the left versus to the right is a taught behavior.

Yeah, ok, the phrasing could have been better. Gets a bit ambiguous when addressing two different people in the same post. I feel I'll have to start speaking like...
Leonard wrote:
If Penny didn’t know that Lesley had already turned me down then that would unambiguously mean that she, Penny, thought that I should her, Lesley, out, indicating that she, Penny, had no interest in me asking her, Penny, out. But because she did know that I had asked Lesley out and that she, Lesley, had turned me down then she, Penny, could be offering consolation. That’s too bad, you would have made a cute couple. But while thinking, good, Leonard remains available.

On the other thing, you're right. I'm just out of witty retorts right now.

skagon you only addressed one person in that post. you may have meant to address two, but that was not what you did.

at least as far as the pills are concerned at least i didn't say v.i.a.g.r.a instead of prozac.
