I can't vote again, but I'd like to see an RSS reader.

Modules I would like to see (only to get the widgets off my desktop):

Media player with an ability to add your own visualization.

Calendar with to-do list.

Uptime (current uptime and record uptime).

For me, this would be a complete desktop.

Regarding giving the email checker the ability to read webmail such as hotmail, yahoo, etc., I have in the past used a very simple program called Pop Peeper (http://www.poppeeper.com/). If that little app can do it, why not WinSTEP?

Burt, capturing toolbars into the NS Startbar shouldn't be too difficult (err) but skinning them is the problem. They would probably look like sh*t in most cases.

TheDude, you make it sound like it's my fault and I'm doing it on purpose simply because I'm lazy. :D HTTP is NOT a Mail protocol, it's a protocol designed to display web pages. The Email checker is a module designed to check for the arrival of new messages using the established email protocols (POP3, IMAP) - it is NOT, nor was it ever intended to be, a web browser.

If anybody has to provide support for something regarding Hotmail (eg. POP3) is Microsoft, not Winstep. From what I've read, if you pay THEM money they will allow you to use the Winstep mail checker to check for new messages, as well as use other email clients to read your messages there.

Go have a look at their known issues page:

http://www.poppeeper.com/knownissues.php

Notice how every time Hotmail, Yahoo, etc, changes a single comma on their web page template the program runs into issues? POP Peeper is parsing HTML for web mail accounts, not using any type of mail protocol.

In my opinion, a program that must rely on constant updates *just* to keep working normally is pretty much useless.

Also, I'm sure that for the people behind More Universe Software it is not a problem to have to update POP Peeper every time an MS executive sneezes and decides to change the Hotmail web page template, since POP Peeper for them is *the* whole product.

However, the Winstep Email Checker module is just a very small part of a much bigger fish, and while I take pride in going the extra mile, this is always within the limits of reason:

I really don't want to spend most of my time replying to numerous requests for support because the mail module suddenly stopped working with Hotmail or Yahoo, looking at HTML and web page templates, issuing hurried updates because some web mail provider changed their layout, and generally having users think Winstep applications are buggy because the email module is not working as advertised.

Fair enough ... I can easily understand the headaches that would create for you, no matter how many caveats or warnings you slapped on it regarding using it at your own risk ...

I would also like to see a slideshow viewer (or picture viewer). A smallish window that will cycle through, and display the pictures from a defined folder on my pc.

thanks.

Thats why i use in Vista still the Vista-Startmenue.

If i use from Nextstart the Systray, i'm missing simply the date and time. It would also nice if the Clock command would have parameters what to show like Clock and Time

I thought I posted this one before....

1. Disk Space Module (just like CPU and Memory ones)
2. Screen capture module? Whole screen or region.

Thanks.

Screen Capture (whole screen) you already have - look for the 'Capture Desktop' internal command, it will capture a snapshot of your screen and save it as a JPG file in your Desktop.

A great feature I would like is when the Context Menu is opened there is a button you click that can lock the Context Menu so it won't close unless you click the button again. I guess you can add a Hotkey feature to it also.

This would help immensely when browsing through files and folders. In My Pictures for example, I sometimes have 8 to 9 rows of Context Menus open and would like to peruse through them clicking and opening files and pics so I can view them normally without having to start from scratch each time after clicking the pic or anywhere else like the Desktop etc.

The "Stay on Top" feature could behave the same way any other file, Program, Browser etc. does when something else is opened and minimized.

This would be great when trying to drag something into or from the Context Menu when a file separate from the Context Menu is used.

BTW, the Preview feature in the Context Menu is awesome!!! It's perfect for pics.

P.S. Just in case anyone is wondering, I edited out the names of the files and folders in the Context Menu.

Jorge and other WSX fans:

I really do not believe any of the choices on this list come even close to the usefulness and simplicity to implement as a calendar. As an engineer, I look at your problem from both sides of the fence: user and programmer. Of the other choices, I see them grouped into two categories:

1) Those that already have simple ways to access - such as a "run command" or "one click search" or "volume control"
2) Those that really require a dedicated program to get all the necessary features - such as RSS feed readers; VDM; universal media player controller

You already have a clock module that must be updated every second - a perfect time to check for an expiring reminder. Extending that module's capability to have an optional calendar display as well as simple reminder capability is a short leap, and probably would have the broadest appeal. Everyone needs to be reminded of something from time to time. After all, how many people DON'T have a paper calendar someplace in their home?

I actually purchased an excellent desktop calendar program (Active Desktop Calendar) just to get this feature when I would have rather just used my module area. You should look at this program to see how small a useful calendar can really be.
