This utility brings back aero effect to file explorer and other windows in win10/11
https://github.com/Maplespe/DWMBlurGlass

Can support be added to nexus dock to where the blur effect can utilise its custom composition? it's open source and the devs are helpful. Might be worth a shot.

it is sort of working but its broken. I'm sure with some tweaks to the nexus ultimate codebase, it can be made to work with DWMBlurGlass

By editing the Taped theme, I can get it to work fully- but only if I select a different theme then switch back to Taped. This can work, just need a bit of tweaking

Without direct OS support as in Windows 7, and much to my sadness, this is not feasible.

Hello Mashakos!
I also tried to get the dock blur with DWMBlur a while ago, but I wasn't able to get it working. The blur was applied only to app windows, not to the dock, even though I tried playing with a bunch of settings in Nexus and DWMBlur.

Could you please explain how you managed to get it working? It looks like it's more complicated than enabling a few options. I would appreciate it!

I would post a detailed guide if I felt the dev cares about nexus dock. In any case, set up dwmblur to the classic aero effect and play with the themes, you should get there

Do not even try pinning this one on me lol

I care about anything Winstep alright, and if you have any doubts all you need to do is checkout the News section for the last releases or even the forum activity here.

What I do NOT care about is 3rd party hacks designed to bring missing Windows functionality back, I have no control over them and normally they are buggy and/or break whenever a new Windows update comes out. I don't have time for that, already too busy with my own code.

If you want to post a guide here please feel free, I will not stop you either, but I will not officially condone 3rd party OS hacks.

I think that is an outrageous accusation for which you really owe the developer an apology. The Winstep apps have been a huge labour of love for Jorge for well over 20 years, to the point of obsession and passion. Nobody could care more about their 'baby', i.e., their creation, than Jorge.
