I don't mind the new default logo colours. Its nice to be able to customise the colour. I generally like to customise the docks so they match whatever windows theme I'm using. Currently saving for a new PC. so i can get back to using workshelf.

Something else I am probably going to do this release given how troublesome this has become because of rabbid AV software: move the default data folder from C:\Public Documents\Winstep\ to C:\Program Data\Winstep\

The problem with Program Data is that it is a hidden folder. Ah well.

I did this move many moons ago when migrating from XP to Vista. Back in XP times everyone run as admin and applications stored their data in the same folder as the application itself (e.g. C:\Program Files\Winstep\) so when that was no longer possible the data folder was migrated from C:\Program Files\Winstep\ to C:\Public Documents\Winstep\. Little did I know years later I would have a similar problem because AV software likes to throw the baby out with the bathwater and seems to think only the Documents folder gets encrypted in a ransomware infection. Sigh.

This "move" will not affect existing installations, only new installations, just as it happened back in the day.

Hi, just a reminder about folder sorting option, afair you mentioned it'll be in this release, but I don't see it being added.

Really? If you right click ANY of the items in a folder type menu, you should see a Sort By option in the context menu that pops up.

HOWEVER, this option was only added to Nexus Ultimate and Winstep Xtreme. The free version of Nexus does not support it, perhaps that is the issue?

Yes that's the issue as I'm using free version.

Time to upgrade no? :D

There is currently a half price promotion going on for Nexus Ultimate.

Ok, changed the code so **new installations** now store data that can be written by the user (such as the Themes folder, Languages, monitor profiles, etc) in C:\ProgramData\Winstep\ rather than under Public Documents.

Let's hope this change doesn't end up causing a ton of issues - and that it puts an end to the anti-virus software issues because of writing to a "protected" folder.

Kind of still "proof of concept" and there are still changes to be made, but... it works! :D

Frankly Jorge, it looks like a heck of a lot of work for such little benefit. Why not just stick to a few fixed choices - perhaps including the existing ones? - and done with. Too much choice and all that.

You can too, if you want, existing pre-defined choices will remain available. But this is a customization application mostly for users who like to tinker with their systems. Just something light for them to play with (and for me to work on for a change - in reality it wasn't that easy to pull this off, but I actually enjoyed doing it).

Plus, who knows, the new code that I had to come up with in order to do this might come in handy for other things...

Oh well, I'll buy that Jorge. :) Nothing like a little diversion, for a change. Even if it's hard work. :D And yeah, I see what you mean about the code perhaps coming in useful... 8)

And here is the final (or very nearly final) version of the icon customization dialog AND new Nexus icon (which is now more based on the logo in the About tab than on the actual Nexus icon(s))

At the same time also working on the multi-selection thingy (which is way more complicated, mostly because the shelf was not made from the ground up to support icon multi-selection + dragging multiple icons):

Now, THAT should be more to your liking since it is a (much) needed functionality feature that has been sadly missing until now.

Yeah, multi-selection would be great. However, by the look of this it would appear that the selections would have, effectively, to fit neatly in a 'box' - not very practical really when files could be in no suitable order. That is, e.g., file A could be in row 1 position 1, file B might be in row 3 position 4, and so on.
