Hello,

I want to achieve this effect. I have an icon panel (it's horizontal) and the particular icons referring to apps work fine. But i also want to use a sort of "stack" effect - when i click on a folder's icon i want the content of it to unfold verticaly below. I don't know if i need to use folders or subdocks for this. I sort of managed to do it, but the list of content is not unfolding with animation, it appears instantly, there's a background to it and also labels. I want just the icons to appear underneath with smooth animation, without any background, labels and i want them to be equal in size with the main icons in the panel (the horizontal ones).
I know it's possible, because i had it working on my previous system, but now i can't figure it out.
Could someone help me with this?

You know, sometimes it's hard to understand what might be going on in there when you don't call things by their names. Things are clearly labeled in the application, and if you don't use those names you might end up confusing the one person you are asking help from.

For instance, what you call a "horizontal icon panel" is actually a "dock".

The other thing is that you don't even specify if you are using the free version of Nexus or one of the paid versions (Nexus Ultimate or Winstep Xtreme). The difference is abysmal in terms of what you can do. The paid versions support, among many other things, multiple docks, sub-docks, grid stacks, drawers, shelves (tabbed docks), launch pads, etc...

Now, if you want to show the contents of *an actual folder* in your hard drive by clicking on a shortcut to a folder in your main dock, then if you are using the paid version the normal option would be something called a Grid Stack of type "Folder"

This will show you the contents of that folder in a sort of "grid" (i.e. rows x columns) with filenames below the icons (which can be optionally disabled).

If you are using the free version (as I suspect, since I could not find your email address on our registered users database) then the only option is to show the contents of the folder as a menu.

On the other hand, IF you are using one of the paid versions and what you want is show categorized shortcuts (for instance, having an icon in the dock named "Office" which, when clicked on, shows office related apps) then you can either use a sub-dock or a grid-stack of type "Regular".

This are very different objects, and configured differently. Since I am still not sure what you are running there, I will refrain from elaborating on this further.

As for the lack of a smooth animation when the menu pops up, my guess is that you might have disabled animations globally (Preferences -> General tab -> Disable all animations) or set the animation timing to be so Fast that it hardly registers.

If you were running Winstep Xtreme instead of the free version of the Nexus dock you would even be able to choose what type of animation plays when opening a menu.

OMG it's another spam bot (or at least the email address is listed in StopForumSpam).

They are getting harder and harder to detect - and worse, they are wasting my time replying to them.

Though it smelled a bit... OP somehow seemed like a typically clumsy LLM composition. Barstewards can get hard to sniff out. :| It's the time wasting that's the worst though. :(
