Every time I place two of my shelfs on a specific position on the desktop: after a reboot from Windows (11) the shelf position is changed to te left above corner, and also shrinked.
I does no matter if I choose lock position in the rightclick menu from a shelf.

What could be the issue?
Maybe my 150% windows Scaling on a 27 inch monitor?
Or what else?

Are you already running the latest beta of v26.8?

Also, a before and after screenshot would probably help.

I have noticed a similar issue with 150% display scaling resetting dock and shelf coordinates after rebooting. Does manually setting High DPI scaling override options for the executable in Compatibility settings change anything for you?

Don't do that!

Winstep applications are already per-monitor (V2) high DPI compatible.

As I said, install the latest beta and see if the issue persists, then please let me know.

My desktop before and after 'reboot'
I cannot exactly say whenn this happens.
It happens not everytime.
Today i did a reboot, nothing changed.
I did a log off and log on: nothing changed.
I did hybernate nothing changed.
And suddenly after a longer hybernate? it was there again.
I don't know what i have changed that cause the issue.

What is most likely happening is the following:

1. WorkShelf starts while Windows is still initializing the display configuration.
2. During that process, Windows temporarily reports a much smaller desktop resolution - judging by the resulting Shelf positions and sizes, possibly something in the region of 1024x768 or 800x600.
3. WorkShelf receives that temporary display change.
4. Since the two floating Shelves are now partly or completely outside the available screen area, WorkShelf's normal bounds checking moves them back inside the visible desktop and reduces their size so they fit within the temporarily smaller screen.
5. Windows then switches back to the proper/native resolution.
6. For some reason, however, the monitor profile corresponding to the final display configuration is apparently not being restored afterward. If it were, the floating Shelves should at least move back to their original positions.
7. As a result, the temporary position and size adjustments made while Windows was using the smaller resolution remain in effect.

This matches your before-and-after screenshots very closely.

There are actually two separate issues here.

The first, and probably the main cause of what you are seeing, is that the correct monitor profile is apparently not being applied once Windows has finished restoring the normal display configuration. If it were, the Shelves should at least return to their previous positions.

The second issue is something I have just found and fixed for the next beta. Monitor profiles were saving the positions of floating Shelves, but not their width and height. This meant that even if the correct profile was restored, a Shelf that had temporarily been shrunk to fit a smaller screen could not recover its previous size.

That part is now fixed. I still need to determine why, in this particular startup/resume sequence, the final display change is apparently not causing the correct monitor profile to be restored.

The difficulty is that returning from hibernation or starting Windows is an extremely busy period for both the operating system and the application. Display, DPI, work-area and other notifications can fire in rapid succession while the graphics driver and desktop are still settling, which makes it very difficult to determine in real time exactly which sequence of events occurred. The fact that the problem appears to happen randomly strongly suggests either a timing/race condition or a notification that is occasionally being missed.

There is another potentially important factor in your particular setup: you previously showed Windows scaling set to 150%.

At 150% scaling, WorkShelf also has to deal with DPI changes in addition to resolution changes. During startup or resume Windows may briefly expose an intermediate display state before the monitor, graphics driver and per-monitor DPI information have fully settled. It is therefore possible that WorkShelf is temporarily seeing not only a different resolution, but also a different DPI/scaling value - for example 100%/96 DPI before Windows restores the normal 150%/144 DPI setting.

That would mean several different display geometries could be reported in very quick succession, making this kind of timing issue even more likely.

One thing I am not completely sure about is the scaling shown in your more recent screenshots. In an earlier screenshot in another thread the 150% scaling is very obvious, whereas some of the later screenshots look much closer to 100% scaling. This could simply be because the screenshots were resized before being posted, but I would like to rule out Windows itself changing the DPI/scaling state during startup or resume.

So, if possible, please confirm that this is a single-monitor system and, what the NATIVE screen resolution is and if Windows scaling is permanently set to 150%.

Also, need you do to something else: next time that happens, IMMEDIATELY go to the Winstep data folder (either C:\ProgramData\Winstep\ or C:\Users\Public\Documents\WinStep ), and please email all the INI files in the Profiles folder to the Winstep support address.

Ok, try this new beta and please let me know.

viewtopic.php?p=51415#p51415

If the shelves appear in the wrong position or size again, DO NOT CLICK ON THEM for the first 30 seconds. See if the software figures out by itself that there is an issue and fixes it.

I will send you de ini files if it happens again.
And i installed the beta and will not touch the shelf to see if it corrects itself.
Thanks!

Yes permanently set to 150%
Native screen resolutin is 3840 X 2160
And indeed, some desktop pictures were made smaller

Today it happened again, after a hibernate.
But is saw a smaller dock (which i normally have positioned on the right side of de screen), as a miniature next to the shrinked shelves, and after a couple of secconds it flipped to the right side in normal position and hight.
The shelfs however did not grows and changed to there normal position and i had manually placed them back.

Thank you, that description is extremely useful.

The fact that the small dock first appeared as a miniature next to the shrunken shelves and then returned by itself to its correct size and position shows that the delayed monitor reconciliation did run and that Nexus restored the correct monitor profile.

The important problem is that the same restoration did not succeed for the shelves. This suggests that the remaining bug is specific to shelf restoration or to the rebuilding of the reserved screen areas after the profile is restored.

If this happens again, please do not manually reposition the shelves or exit WorkShelf immediately. Wait at least 30 seconds first. If the shelves still do not return to normal, please copy the monitor profile files from:

C:\ProgramData\Winstep\Profiles\

It is important to copy those files before adjusting the shelves or exiting WorkShelf.

Could you also give me your best estimate of:

a) How many seconds normally pass between resuming the computer and all monitors being recognized, displaying an image, and becoming stable?

b) How many seconds passed before the small dock returned to its normal size and position on the right side?

Even an approximate count is useful, but the timing is important.

One more question: the dock you mention (which I cannot see in the previous screenshots), is it docked to a screen edge?

Also, in Windows Settings -> System -> Display,

Is "Remember window locations based on monitor connection" enabled?

Yes it is (was also) enabled

Does it matter my configuration?
It happens on Hibernate. Windows 11
Dell P2725QE monitor
COnnected with an Usb-C cable.

I will try to answer your other timing questions if it happens again.

The Dock on the right side is indeed docked on the edge. And was not visible on my desktop screenshots.
