Does it matter my configuration?

I don't know yet. I have that option disabled here because it never worked properly for me, and I use Monitor Keeper instead.

Monitor Keeper does not interfere with the special windows used for docks and shelves. I do not yet know exactly how Windows treats those windows when its own location-restoration option is enabled, so it is a variable worth investigating.

When a change affects the display configuration, such as a monitor being added or removed or its resolution or DPI changing, Windows broadcasts a WM_DISPLAYCHANGE message. Importantly, this message is sent after the display configuration has already changed.

The Winstep multi-monitor code assumes that the application remains responsible for the authoritative positions and sizes of docks and shelves when that message arrives. If Windows also tries to restore or alter the position and size of those windows, it could interfere with the display-change sequence.

This does not necessarily mean that Windows is overwriting the saved Winstep positions, because Winstep maintains its own internal coordinates. Nevertheless, the Windows setting could be triggering or exposing the problem.

It is very difficult to determine exactly what is happening because the problem is also timing-related. Otherwise, the shelves and docks would appear in the wrong positions every single time, which they do not.

Please let me know if this new beta finally fixes the shelf positioning and size issues when returning from hibernation or sleep:

The previous last days i did also not have issues on hibernate, so it could not give you more info on the ini files.
If it happens again i let you know!

Hi Jorge!
I am sorry today it happened again!
I don't know why.

The computer was in hibernate. I waked it up, (my monitor 27 inch 4k dell connected with an usb-c cable) was off (i mostly turn the monitor off) and if i wake the pc (geekcom A6) with the powerbutton from hibernate) then i turn also the monitor on. but sometimes (maybe today) somewhat later.

I could not timed it, what you asked, i was not prepared.
I did not move yet de shelfs positions and did not close winstep ultimate and will send you the inifiles.

Hopes it will help you.

Another issue i remarked, the hidden left and right docks, the icons where centered, but i had lined them up on top.

I send you de the inifiles again, after i set the shelfs in position (and also the icons from the docks lined on top)

You apparently forgot to exit the Winstep application after repositioning your Shelves. Exiting the application is one of the occasions when the monitor profiles are saved, so the profile files in the second ZIP are identical to those in the first one.

Please restart the Winstep application and then send me the profiles again.

Also, when you say that the "icons were centered but I had them lined up on top", do you mean the actual position of the docks themselves, or the position of the icons inside the docks? This distinction is important.

Icon justification inside a dock - left justified, centered or right justified - is a setting that is only available when the dock is set to span the full screen width while docked. That setting is not saved as part of the monitor profiles, nor should it be.

Also, one thing is how the dock *appeared* despite the setting, and another is whether the setting in the Properties dialog itself actually changed. If the setting itself changed from top-aligned to centered, that could be a very important clue.

There is another reason I need the profiles after you have repositioned the Shelves and restarted Winstep: the positions stored in the September 11 profile are actually not very far from the older known-good positions.

So either the Shelves only moved by a relatively small amount when the problem occurred, or that profile may already have been saved after you had repositioned them. Comparing it with a freshly saved profile containing the positions you know are correct should tell me which is the case.

(beware it is not the icons in the floating shelfs, but the icons in the hiding dock)

The correct position is made by hand. (mouse drag) So it is not everytime exact the same i supose.

I send a new profile folder after restart Winstep

Thanks. After comparing the profiles before and after you repositioned the Shelves, I think what happened today may actually have been something different from the original problem.

In the original problem, the Shelves were apparently being reset toward the top-left of the screen and their sizes were altered significantly. Nothing in today's profiles shows that happening. The Shelf positions and sizes only changed by relatively small amounts, and none of them were reset anywhere near 0,0.

Of course, it is still possible that something happened before the profiles were saved that the files no longer show, but based on the information I have now, what actually happened today is inconclusive.

The fact that the icon justification inside the hidden docks also changed makes this even stranger, because that setting is not part of the monitor profiles at all.

In fact, it almost looks as if an older backup or older set of settings was restored somehow. Centered icon justification is the default when loading settings created by an older version which predates that particular option.

For now I am therefore inclined to treat today's occurrence as a one-time fluke rather than assume it is the same problem we were investigating before.

If it happens again, please try not to change or reposition anything before letting me know and saving the profiles. That should give us a much clearer picture of what actually happened.

Also, in your Profiles folder, please delete every file that does not start with "UT". They are just unneeded clutter at this point and will only make future comparisons more confusing.

No problems with the shelfs at the moment, but

This happends all the time.
I set it to 'above'(Both docks) but it won't save and often i have to set it again.
Maybe it happened whenn we stretched the dock and changed the icon space to 64?

Fixed, thanks!

Not as simple as this, but essentially the value was not being saved, which always made it revert to the default (centered).
