Nexus is a free dock for the 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Image
(The screenshot above displays Nexus with icon reflections enabled at 75%, widened separation between icons, the dock background set to 100% transparent and icons set to opaque. The wallpaper can be downloaded from HERE)

The 10.2 beta release, among other things, adds the ability to display the Windows System Tray on the dock and allows new language files to be added or updated, as they become available, via the built-in automatic update manager.

The system tray can be added to a dock by enabling the relevant setting in the Contents section of the Effects tab in Preferences.

IMPORTANT: This beta package is an update and MUST be installed ON TOP of a previous Nexus 10.1 or later installation!

This is a semi-public beta, please do not share the download link below outside this forum. An official release will be made soon.

Users of Winstep Xtreme should NOT download this file: there is a new private beta of Winstep Xtreme available in the Beta forums allowing the system tray to be displayed on docks, shelves and menus.

1 - Download the 10.2 beta from

http://www.winstep.net/nexus-beta.zip

2 - Unzip the file.

3 - Exit all Winstep applications.

4 - Run NexusSetup.exe

Please note that the ability to customize dock System Tray icons will be available in Winstep Xtreme only.

Feedback on the new 10.2 features is extremely welcome.

Please don't forget to leave some feedback, good or bad! If you find a bug or issue and say nothing about it, the official release will likely ship with it - then you'll have to wait longer for a fix! :P

I have a four monitor set up, this is the desktop from my monitor No: 4.

The systray has been detached and placed on a Leopard glass Dock. Looks great and I can drag it around all four monitors.

Brilliant addition Jorge, thanks again. :D

I installed the 10.2 beta and after installation, I couldn't get the Nexus bar to appear when I went to the edge of the screen. I wound up having to uninstall and re-install 10.1 to get it to work again. Was I doing something wrong? Is there some new hook that I don't know about?

Thanks,
Grouch

Was Nexus docked or floating?

Docked to bottom (centered), 32 pixel offset to display.

Did you double check the settings?

Also, you were bumping the bottom screen edge, not the top, right?

I reset from the saved settings. I went back to the bottom and nothing popped up. I tried all of the edges. Nothing. I checked all of the settings, and they were just what I expected them to be. I'm at a loss for what could be wrong. I went to the tray and clicked on preferences (then press 'OK' or 'Apply') and the dock popped up at the bottom. As soon as I clicked an empty spot on the screen to dismiss the dock, it was no longer available. The only way I can get the dock to appear is to click preferences. That is just a wee bit inconvenient.
Thanks,
Grouch

I received an automatic update to Nexus 10.3 today. It works perfectly. It installed an relaunched working just as 10.1 did. Thanks for a quick resolution to the problem.
Grouch
