I've noticed recently that when I have quite a few windows open, the taskbar icons start behaving weirdly. I have them grouped, but when the dock extends to the edge of the screen, they ungroup but stay the same size. When this happens, any window I have open keeps changing size as if the original windows taskbar is there and the dock is trying to auto-hide it or something.

I have attached screenshots to show the problem.

The size of the icons in a dock will automatically shrink all the way down to 16x16 to make sure the dock fits on the screen, irrespective of user set size. However, 16x16 is the limit, and, after that, the dock will just grow past the screen edges.

The system tray icons, when grouped, are special, in that they are groupped into a 16x16 grid in a single dock icon. At 32x32, you can still fit four system tray icons, but when the size of a single dock icon grows smaller than 32x32, you can only fit one - which is why they appear to ungroup.

This ungrouping, however, will in turn affect the width of the dock and, thus, the size of the icons in the dock. Apparently that is causing the equivalente of 'audio feedback' and the weird effect you seem to be seing. I'll look into it.

I managed to get a screenshot of a recurring problem in addition to the one above. The information about the current window in the dock sometimes gets 'stuck' and won't disappear. I'm not sure how, but eventually the text will disappear...if you could shed some light on why this is happening that would be great!

The latter has nothing to do with Winstep - it's windows problem. Had it many times on many different systems. No way around it as far as I could figure, thanks to BG
