Nexus Dock Version 11.06.0968 (see attachment)

After I updated to V.11.06, I started being plagued by very annoying Nexus Dock behavior. I've always used autohide and with previous versions, the dock would appear and stay in place when I bumped the screen edge. Now when I bump the screen edge, the dock appears for a moment and retreats back off the screen edge again immediately.

I'd like to go back to a previous version of Nexus Dock because the way it works now with V.11.06, I find it useless. Where can I download a previous version? Thanks.

This is by design to help with accidental mouse bumps.

Unless there is a bug somewhere, the dock will only 'retreat back' if you mouse away from it. To make it stay in place, click on an empty space of the dock.

Actually, since you brought it up, I have one question. I've got the shelf at the top side, autohide, always on top. If I move the mouse to the very top (pixel row 0) and leave it there, the shelf appears, and then disappears after a few deciseconds. In order for it to persist, I have to wait until it appears and then move the mouse a few pixels down, on the shelf itself (but not the top row of pixels). So far, I've got used to this behaviour.
However, I've got a dock on the left, same principles, autohide, always on top. However, if I move the mouse to the very left (pixel column 0) and leave it there, the dock will appear, but it doesn't ever disappear like the shelf does.
Why is there this difference? Is it a difference of dock versus shelf, or is it the top side versus the left side that has a different behaviour?
Is it possible to change that behaviour from some setting?

My guess is that you have two settings causing this behavior:

1. The auto-hide delay is set to minimum.

2. In Shelf Properties -> Behavior -> Advanced you have 'Hide or collapse automatically only when other windows have the focus' disabled.

Because setting 2 is disabled, when the Shelf opens, it will only remain open for as long as the window underneath the mouse pointer is the actual Shelf. Transparent bits on the Shelf *do not count*.

So, when the Shelf pops up, my guess is that the location where the mouse pointer is bumping the edge is a fully transparent area of the Shelf. Since that doesn't count as the Shelf, the auto-hide counter immediately begins to count down, and because you set it to auto-hide as soon as possible, the Shelf collapses almost immediately.

Increase the auto-hide delay or turn on 'Hide or collapse automatically only when other windows have the focus'.

The dock behaves differently because there is a setting for it which can distance it from the screen edge by up to 128 pixels. Because of this, distance from edge is also taken into account.

No, but it doesn't matter. It's small.

Yup.

Actually, that's the funny part. It's not transparent at all, anywhere. So, I don't know why it hides.

I'll try it out and see if that behaviour is acceptable. ;)

Ah, ok. Thanks.

Hmmm... Is it possible that you also have that screen edge bump assigned to a hotkey somewhere else?

Nope. No hotkeys. Actually, it always did that, even with Nexus. Shelf on top, tabs bottom, always on top, autohide, prevent maximised windows from overlapping, overlapping gap zero pixels.
No idea why it's vanishing. However, even with the shelf hidden, there's one row of pixels that's visible on top, even over maximised windows.
Maybe it's that one activation row that is somehow perceived as being "outside" the shelf window?

Yes, that could happen. If the 'hotspot' of the mouse cursor is above a fully transparent part of a window (i.e.; the Shelf) then the GetWindowFromPoint API returns whatever is beneath it, e.g.;

GetCursorPos(Pt)
GetWindowFromPoint(Pt)

Still it's weird, because like I said, there is no transparency in the theme I've made and am using. No transparency at all.
Actually, that one row that's always visible is the last row of pixels of the theme background (wsFullBody.png). Remember the screenshot I had posted about the effects not finishing and leaving traces when shelf hides? That one row. No transparency, still, behaves like transparent.
Weird.

Please refresh my memory and email me a full size screenshot of your desktop to the Winstep support address. Let's see what a bit of bitmap magnifying comes up with.

Hah! I knew it! Jenna's tits cause Windows to go beserk! That's what you get when your OS is made by geeks like Gates and Ballmer and by their company called "micro-soft"... should have chosen something by a cool dude like Jobs instead... :P
