Hello, I have Winstep xTreme, and my issue is with the dock systems...
I am choosing to hide my taskbar completely, and instead use a smaller dock for one. In this dock, I have my StartMenu, and my quick launch (Win+1, Win+2 etc) icons from the task bar. After that there is a space, where the running applications, not pinned applications, but actual running apps shows. However clicking this does not do anything... I have looked for settings and cannot find one to fix this. I wish to do as the original taskbar does, show both pinned, and running. Click either of the two, pinned or running (Unpinned) and the window restores/opens.

Any help?

What version of Winstep Xtreme are you running?

Anyway, open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the Tasks tab, then click the Advanced button. What are the Tasklist Actions set to? Default would be:

Left click: Bring to Front/Minimize
Right click: Open Task Menu
Middle click: Close

@ Version question: I am running the latest actually.
@ Suggested Solution: Thank you VERY much, this should work. My "Tasklist Actions" for some reason were set to "Nothing" and changing them within the shelf effected both the shelf and dock.

Now I can use the shelf and the dock for tasks.

(I hid the Taskbar and am using a dock on the desktop to use StartMenu, view running applications and system tray) to open running programs)

While I am here I would hope to ask a few more questions using this thread, am not sure if that is allowed, as it would bump, or if I should create a new thread.

1. On a dock, I have hidden the "Dock Control Icon", I have now unchecked the option (Enabling the icon to show) and it is not appearing, how would I show the control icon again?

2. Under Winstep xTreme, latest version, how would I change my theme and it have an effect on ALL Winstep utilities? Currently I have to go to the shelf, change it's theme, and then go to the first dock, change it's theme, go to the second dock, change it's theme. I have to do this individually, how would I change ALL of it under one master theme select?

3. Is it possible to have 2 shelves? I have (1) shelf that works fully and without error, but would LOVE to add a second shelf, how would I do this, if even possible?

4. I know how to use multiple docks, but is it possible to make a single dock have 2 layers of icons? Similar to the way the shelf does in it's settings? The shelf has options for (1) row of icons, (2) rows, (3) rows etc, I would like this on a dock.

5. What is the function of a "Sub Dock" within the docks? I have not tried out this feature yet, I know it works but have not attempted to utilize it as a feature due to not knowing it's purpose.

6. In the Shelf Tab labeled "Desktop" the Icons go as follows Left-To-Right: Computer, Control Panel, Homegroup, Libraries, Network, Recycler (Recycle Bin). Is it possible to hide these icons? I have other ways to access these, and it only clutters my "Desktop" Tab within the Shelf.

7. In the Shelf, when it Auto-Hides (Folds into edge of screen showing only tabs.) How do I make it so that the tabs, and shelf fully disappears as do the docks? Under the preferences I've tried to find a solution, but cannot.

This is an example why it's not a good idea to reply to a very specific question with a generality: :D I asked you what version you were running, you replied 'the latest' instead of specific 'vX.X'. You might think you have the latest and you might be wrong.

Anyway, there was a bug in v11.6, fixed in v11.10, in which the 'Hide control icon' setting in Dock Properties did nothing. Try *right* clicking on any icon in the dock -> Insert New Dock Item -> Show dock control icon.

You should probably read this themes tutorial HERE.

Anyway, each dock (and the Shelf) can individual themes, which you can apply via the properties panel for that dock or the Shelf. There is, however, a 'central' theme mechanism which you can find in the Themes tab of WorkShelf Preferences. Any theme applied via that tab will affect all docks and the Shelf at the same time (unless you have been going around locking themes for each of the docks).

You can also use the Themes tab in the Shelf.

Not currently, sorry. This said, multiple Shelves and vertical Shelves is high on the to-do list.

No, for the simple reason that it then would not be a dock, but a one-tab Shelf. :D

Sub-docks allow you to categorize programs in a dock. They act a little bit like the tabs in a Shelf, the only difference is that instead of a tab you have an icon. Click that icon and a sub-dock opens. So you could have a sub-dock icon on the main dock for, say, Office. Click that icon and another dock opens displaying all your office applications (or whatever you put there previously).

Not currently possible, sorry...

Open the Shelf Properties dialog, go to the Behavior tab, click the Advanced button, enable the 'Hide tabs when the Shelf is collapsed' option.

Sigh.

Calling a chicken a duck does not make the chicken a duck or make it swim across the pond any better.

Have you ever wondered why a Shelf does *not* have the magnify effect?

cause having magnify on the shelf would be annoying. but we are talking about something that will more than likely be use for shortcuts. i've never checked it myself but i assume the mouseover effects along with the magnify effect can be turned off on a per dock / subdock basis if not it's an idea for you to maybe think about. on another note the workshelf is still a dock. you did give me an idea how about calling something like that folderdocks?

In that case what makes you think it would not be annoying in a multi-row dock? Oh, wait, it would, so we would have to turn magnify off for multiple row docks. In which case you are left with the equivalent of a one-tab Shelf, like I said. :P

Use the Shelf for such things instead. Or two docks placed one above the other, if you want. :D

jorge i alluded to having the ability to turn off the effects on a subdock like that, but another idea depending on how hard it would be to implement is maybe once you allow multiple shelves also implement on a per shelf basic the ability to choose how long a shelf is. that would make it wrap any icons that don't fit the length of the shelf, just like the main shelf does now. i also found the following.

What about it? The Winstep docks and Shelf can do all that.

he's talking about having sub shelves not sub docks, like you have docks for the shelf.

And he was given two different alternate solutions which make more sense: either resize the Shelf so it shows more than one row of icons, or use multiple docks attached to the same screen edge but with different 'distance from edge' values.
