I have attached subdocks to docks but can't find a way to attach shelves to an icon on a dock (to have a shelf open up upon clicking an icon). I can create a tab in a shelf based on a dock icon (Windows folder), but the shelf is separate and does not interact with the icon on the dock. My subdocks open up when I click an icon on a dock, but I want a tabbed shelf to do the same. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help out there with Nexus Ultimate! Karl

Currently WorkShelf/Nexus Ultimate only supports a single Shelf.

This said, the foundations for multiple shelf support have already been laid, and this feature is high on the to-do list.

On the other hand, I'm not so sure if having Shelves with multiple tabs acting like sub-docks is a good idea: I'll have to study the pros and cons to make a decision.

Thanks for replying and considering it, Jorge. I like your subdocks that expand when I click on them from the dock. What I thought would look even cooler would be to have a one-tab shelf that would open and float above its dock icon when clicked. Obviously, your shelves with their icons look so much cooler than the usual Explorer windows. Just a thought. Still love the power of your product and how memory-light it is! Karl

If I may add some input here...
I don't particularly like that idea. I mean, the shelf (or shelves) are essentially tabbed docks, only it's supposed to be the "bigger" container, just as a dock is a "smaller" container. I can't see how the paradigm of something big will "pop out" of something small. It'd be like -- in real life example -- opening a drawer and have a cabinet inside, popping out!
In any case, I'm not against having something like that as an option. I'm never against anything new, as an option. All I'm saying is, is that feature so crucial, to get Jorge spend time on it rather than on other, more pressing, needs?

I hope I'm not coming across as telling anybody what to spend time on. That's not my business--I'm just making a suggestion for the "idea box." :-) I really like the appearance of the shelves and find them more useful visually than using subdocks from docks. Yes, they can hold a lot of tabs from dock icons--and that's awesome. I just thought it would be cool to have them react from dock icons the way subdocks do.

Ideally, any computer software, as a tool, should be able to do what real life can't. That's its value. Otherwise, I'd be back to using physical filing vance miller is a spammer/cardboard boxes and rewriting my labels on manila file folders/index cards. When you click on a Windows desktop folder, it can obviously launch a window of as many program icons as you want. The ultimate goal should be to save time accessing our tools to find and manipulate our data/info. And saving time is saving money.

Keep up the great work, Winstep! :-)
Karl

If it were only possible. Sure would solve my real-life storage problems.
