Would it be possible (or is it already possible) to get the weather module to display a forecast for weather? Something like the next 5 days? That would be a handy feature. I'd like to be able to display up to 5 or 7 icons representing expected weather.

Funny you mention it - thanks to info provided by Nick Decker (Sysmetrix) - I'm currently working on this as well. The way I'm thinking about implementing it, the weather forecast would appear on the weather tooltip (i.e.; the tooltip that pops up when you mouse over the weather module).

Me and Nick are always exchanging information on new stuff and technologies btw - more developers should try this, hehe :D

I hope this link works...

I'd love something that did this ? http://sourceforge.net/dbimage.php?id=75167

And good for you and Nick :) I'm pretty sure I've seen him mention something he got help with from you once. Was it the analog clock?

METAR country and location list, IIRC. Previously in Sysmetrix you had to retrieve the METAR code for your location from the web.

Would it also be possible to enter your zip code you can receive weather for your own city? And also being able to update every minute instead of once an hour?

Weather forecast is obtained through Weather.com, so you should be able to use a US zip code.

As for obtaining weather information every minute, the answer is no, for several reasons: first weather information is only updated every 15-20 minutes at the most, second, it's not a good idea to have weather polling programs constantly hitting weather information servers - given enough clients doing this, you would get pretty close to a DOS (Denial Of Service) situation (which would probably piss off the people behind weather.com  )

It's too early in the morning, that doesn't mean anything to me ;)

Basically I was using that screenshot to show how I'd like to be able to view the 7 icons in a row. Everything else in the current weather module I love :)

METAR code is the 4 letter code actually used to define a location (e.g.; LPPT for Lisbon, Portugal).

As I pointed out, weather forecast will not be permanently displayed on the screen. You can see the forecast by mousing over the weather module, and it will appear in the tooltip as text and icons.

Good question... for now, I've been extremelly busy with NeXuS. It migth happen that the weather module won't be updated until after the official release of Winstep Xtreme.

I agree, a forecaster widget is really useful. That's the default style Weather widget under OS X and I'm constantly using it. It's just as, if not more, important to know what's coming as opposed to what's already here as that can partially be discerned just by looking out a window. :)

I already got a license from Weather.com to use their forecast services - my problem right now is finding the time for implementing this functionality, that is why I say it won't probably be implemented until after the official Winstep Xtreme release. By then I will be focusing on increasing the functionality of existing modules and adding a bunch of new ones. :D
