I'm trying out Nexus for the first time tonight, and I went in to change the weather module to my city, but when I click Get Weather, it gives me an error. The error is "Unknown / Invalid location". I picked my city from the list that is at the top of the settings window. Other cities around my area work fine.

I may have figured out the problem. I put my State for the country and that fixed it, so I believe the problem is that there's more than one town in the US by my towns name.

Also, now I'm only getting a 4 day forecast. I checked http://weather.msn.com/RSS.aspx?wealocations=wc:USOR0312 and I get a blank page. Does that mean MSN weather doesn't have my city right now, or did I make an error in the URL?

What version of Nexus are you running?

In v11.10 the possible weather sources are METAR (info provided by NOOA based on a METAR code, current weather conditions only), MSN Weather and Google.

MSN Weather is a bit unreliable and I've noticed that it sometimes returns a blank page for particular locations. When that happens, the widget falls back to the Google weather feed, which unfortunately only provides a 4 day forecast instead of 5 day forecast.

My advice is that you download the beta of v12.2 from this thread HERE, then report back. v12.2 also restores the old Weather.com feed.

I was using 11.10, and when I try the beta, the weather module works fine. Thanks for your help. :D
There will be a purchase made when I can.

I live in Australia, and my town isnt even in the list, but i can put it in manualy, but everytime i reboot it resets to the original New York weather, I think i need to use another weather service to get a proper location for my town weather.

I tried to use one that was local to my country but resets as well.

I'm thinking this needs to be set somehow via the computers settings in the windows settings for my country as its not doing it via winstep.

Can you please post a screenshot displaying the Weather settings panel after you've manually typed in your location?

Also, what Winstep application are you using (Nexus free, Nexus Ultimate, Winstep Xtreme?) and what version?

I tried to take a screen shot of the open module but winsteps own screen capture wouldnt let me do it.
It's winstep nexus ultimate.

Have fixed its weather module by using a local country weather link,as your weather module hasn't even got my town peeved me.

Think this is what realy needs to be done by anyone that has this problem, i used the same service that my local version of ninesmn, or if in america would use msnbc channel/site to get weather from, use the same link that their site uses, choose your town from the map shown and then cut and paste link to your version of winstep nexus, then save it all, use backup.

This is what i did to solve weather problem, but still that not being able to take a screen shot while weather module was open via winsteps own screen shooter peeved me.

You really think that selecting your location from a map is easier than selecting it from a country/city list? :D

The Weather module already supports about 35,000 cities in the whole word. Sorry your city isn't in it, but if you know the Weather.com code for it (and you can probably find that out by visiting the Weather.com site) then you can simply type in your location and the code in the Weather module settings panel, instead of selecting it from the list.

Or you can just use an existing location near you.

For future reference, a way to take a screenshot of your desktop *at any time* is by pressing the PRTSCR key. This will put the screenshot in the Windows clipboard, you can then open a program such as MS Paint, paste the contents of the clipboard into it and save the resulting image as a JPG.

I'm not aguing that the amout of city's that are in your database isnt great just that it might need updating as I'm not the only one that has had this problem, just saying if its the database that is at faul, might be better to get weather from own location rather than a web site that is americancentric at best, and at most see no need to go outside of my own country to get a weather report.

And this not being able to take a snap shot of itself peeved me, it has a snapsnooter that wont take a shot of itself seemed odd to me, meens that it wont funcion to do this is archiac at best, what your basically telling me is that the setting that winstep nexus need to be altered, and that maybe the snapshooter needs to be told to prntscrn, all I'm trying to say is that if a module isnt getting a disired effect or working to a purpose that is desired then paramiters need to be changed to suit, as it is this is what needs to be done to get a work around to the snaphot, if at all that can be done ?

You couldn't use the Capture Desktop item because you had an item configuration window open. When a configuration window is open you can't use the dock until you finish changing the settings and close the window.

Yeah ok, suppose thats resonable, i'l try and make my own button to snappy, see if somehow can get the prntscrn to work as that somehow, as i dont think i was able to see it as short cut, might need to be totaly seperate from nexus.

I was thinking that this was somethin that devs might want to make work as would be an idea that snappy works in any condition, but this is a conversation for another thread.

Thank you.

Hi SuperRocket03, try this: RPLL

It took quite a bit of research. I tested it and it worked for me so it should work for you. Let me know if it works.

I just tried that location and it's working fine for me. Maybe Weather.com data was temporarily down for that location? Otherwise, try other locations - if none of them work, then the problem is your firewall blocking Internet connections for that Winstep application.

It must have been temporarily down because it wasn't working when I checked it. I did notice in my research that the METAR code was not in the side by side listing with the weather.com codes. There were a lot of locations like that.

I found the METAR code in a totally separate site from the listing where both the weather.com and METAR codes are listed side by side. I guess I finally found the correct query that pulled up the site that displayed only that location's METAR code.

SuperRocket03 should be up and running now. If not, then as you said Jorge, it's on his end. Well, not if it goes down again.
