"...Furthermore, because WinRT is a closed platform, no 3rd party software can be sold or installed except through the Microsoft store - thus earning Microsoft a 30% cut in the sale of every piece of software ever made for WinRT. Great way to make money on the work of others, no? Pure Genius.

I 'believe' that the Surface has another edition called Surface Pro that will be a fully functional OS, allowing for 3rd party app installation and etc. Coming next year?
Still, too rich for my blood.

I've lost all faith I ever had in Microsoft (which wasn't much already having seen how they killed classic VB) and I hope Windows 8 is a huge flop that blows up in Steven Sinofsky's face, and of all his minions.[/quote]

You had faith? I do also. Faith that Microsoft will, without fail, screw up most things without effort.

You know Sinofsky was canned, right? So goes the rumor.

Well... everybody including me was waiting for the one fatal mistake that will start the demise of Microsoft. Maybe that's it. Fingers crossed.
Better start planning on a version of Winstep for Linux, mate. :D

Can we ever be so lucky. I sure hope so.

Here's my second for a Linux version.

Like your new look.

Good point taken. Tend to agree.

There are still some good people inside Microsoft, who could only shake their heads at the direction Microsoft was/is taking.

Yep, he was. Not sure if that will change anything, but one can only hope. All these Steve Jobs wanna-be's that don't understand the reason Jobs succeeded is because he was a visionary and innovator *with taste*. Being a little tyrant like Sinofsky and so many of the other wanna-be's is NOT enough.

True enough. We need to get them up the ladder to the power positions.

While Apple isn't my favorite, we lost a great one.
