i hav a problem with the installation of winstep.xtreme. In my installation the nextstart will not install on my computer.

have anybody the same probleme or a solution for me?

i have uninstall the product and install the Version 12.2 without any solution...

It's a bit of a stupid question, but we need to cover all the bases: are you sure you're running Winstep Xtreme and not Nexus Ultimate or just the free version of Nexus?

If so, can you please post a screenshot of what your desktop looks like after launching Winstep Xtreme? In that screenshot, if possible, show also the Windows Task Manager window displaying the 'Processes' tab. Can you see nextstart.exe and workshelf.exe in Task Manager?

here the screenshots of my system...

on my disk where the software will be installed, there is no nextstart.exe only link to the exe file exist, but not the nextstart.exe file by itself...

Thanks for the screenshots, you are indeed running the latest version of Winstep Xtreme and NextSTART is indeed NOT running, as you said.

Ok, try the following:

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\

and look for the Nextstart.exe executable file. Double click it to run it manually.

Does NextSTART run and stay running in this case? If so, open NextSTART Preferences, go to the General tab, then make sure the 'Run NextSTART at Windows Startup' setting is enabled.

Please let me know either way.

In the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\" is no nextstart.exe file...

With the setup program there wasn't copy this file on my computer or on the location you said.

Wow. I NEVER heard of something like that(but note that the .exe file extension will NOT be visible if Windows is set - which it is by default - not to show known file extensions, so what you might see would be a 'Nextstart' file with the icon of a monitor - but I assume you already know that).

Ok, try the following: is there a C:\Program Files\Winstep\ folder (note the lack of (x86) in 'C:\Program Files')? If there is, delete it.

Now download a fresh copy of Winstep Xtreme from HERE. Exit all running Winstep applications, unzip the file, run setup to install ON TOP of your current installation.

Once setup is complete, check the C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\ folder again for the nextstart.exe file. If it still isn't there, I would begin suspecting your Anti-Virus software silently blocking NextSTART - does your AV software have a log file?

i have deactivate the virus scanner and installed the software new...

there was no folder under C:\Program Files\Winstep\

and thats the installed folder with the files from the setup...

Well, I'm baffled, and I feel like crying together with you. Anyone else has any suggestion to what might be happening here?

Anyway, I've uploaded a zip file containing *only* the NextStart executable, which you can download from HERE. Unzip, extract the nextstart.exe file inside to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\ folder, then report back what happened.

I still think this might have something to do with your AV software.

maybe worth a try since you already tried you a/v software try disabling your firewall and try what jorge suggested above again. also just like with you a/v log check your firewall log.

Chucky, remember me telling you that when I set up someone's computer I always turn off the a-v programs? Of course I will only do that for programs (like a Winstep product) that I know for a fact does not have malware.

I know you don't do that, but I've found that it isn't worth the headache to keep the a-v on when it isn't needed since most of the time they silently block something and prevents the program from working correctly causing the sort of problem the OP is having-along with others.

Windy, i made my suggestion cause f/w programs also silently block programs / processes.

When I said a-v programs I was also referring to firewall programs too. I guess I should have been more specific.
