How does one go about getting a licence key for a paid-for product. I purchased before Xmas.

My few month old SSD drive decided to pack up and had to be replaced under warranty, with it went my emails and I have no other record of my licence key, so when it came to replace my OS and software on the replaced hard drive, I have no way of registering it.

Emails to the support email address have gone unanswered. Judging by the amount of kitchen spam on the forums it seems he doesn't log in here either, so am I basically screwed for using the software I've paid for?

I've managed to install all the other software I've paid for simply by emailing a request for my registration key to be sent to me, all except WinStep

You are referring to Fair Trade practices, right?

I just want to be able to use the software paid for.

The purchase page of this site says that aswell as buying the software I am buying

* One full year of FREE product upgrades, with renewals costing only a fraction of the initial purchase price
* Premium support

I don't see much evidence of either to be honest.

Yes, I understand you want to use the software.

Please notice that the legal terms you subscribed to, do not contain a specific provision concerning lost or deleted registration keys. I may read them again if you want me to, just to make sure. Some software vendors warn you to maintain backup copies of the keys even when they are only alpha-numeric strings. Others will not even allow you to download the software once the download email expires. [In software off-shelf if you lose or misplace the box, you're gone.] So in terms of your legal rights (and don't take this the wrong way) there's no commitment from Winstep to replace a key you lost and therefore a specific time frame does not apply either.

However it has been customary practice from Winstep to indeed send a replacement key when requested. In behalf of Winstep I apologize for the hiccup but the person that takes care of that is on leave of absence for private reasons. So this may take a while. I would ask you to please be patient. This will be solved as soon as possible.

Continue to visit the community and you will stay up to date. Your active participation will be very much welcome (even if the problem you are having can't be solved right away).

Cathus, lightingbolt does not nor has he ever represented jorge's interest, nor has he ever been in direct contact with jorge. i do not need proof one way or the other to know for a fact that he's never been in contact with jorge. if anything he's jorge yanking our chains, and that is extremely unlikely. as for your key once jorge does decide grace us with his presence again he will verify your purchase and resend you your key.

I'll just verify what Chucky just said.
The general practice is that Jorge, once he's back, will re-send your license key and reimburse any time from the one year you might have lost due to his absence.

I know this because that's what's happened in the past, not because I've got his phone number or anything. For all we know, nobody does in here.

Cheers!

Believe me when I say that I am really sorry that your situation hasn't been sorted out. The developer came back after our previous chit-chat, so I had thought the backlog had been put up to date. Unfortunately I can no longer give you the type of reassurances I gave you before. It seems the owner/developer doesn't really care, there's nothing anyone else can do about it, and you are entirely justified in being completely and utterly mad at this.

Cathus, please take a look in this thread.
Maybe it will shed some light as to what has happened.
Cheers!

So, any updates into when keys are likely to be sent out yet?

The trial period for the software has run out so I can no longer run it at all.

Hm, I'll let Jorge know there's still licences to be sent. I thought he'd have taken care of them by now.

Hi - I just purchased the full version of the program yesterday and even though I know I have until tomorrow to reach my 48 hours, I was just wondering if it WOULD take longer than that or if everything is all caught up now. :)

In all sincerity, I just don't know if that 48-hour period is being honoured.
However, I can (and will) let Jorge know, like I do with all such requests in here.
Having said that, I do believe that you will receive your licence soon.

Thank you kind sir. :)

I just really enjoy using the programs but don't want to lose all my work after 30 days and looking forward to the full version of the Start Menu Organizer as well as all the extra goodies that the 'Full-Meal Deal' offers. :)
